(TEMPORARY ROAD CLOSURE) ORDER 2026
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Northumberland County Council intends to make an Order to prohibit the use by vehicular traffic on the following sections in the County of Northumberland:
B6309 Stamfordham To Burnside from its junction with C340 Matfen Junction To Belsay Castle Junction in a south-easterly direction for a length of 2300 metres.
B6309 Burnside To Belsay Junction from its junction with C211 District Boundary To West Belsay Junction in a southerly direction for a length of 1000 metres.
The Order is to be effective from the 6th July 2026 until the 4th September 2027.
It is expected that the road will only be closed from the 6th July 2026 until the 21st August 2026. The road will be closed at all times during this period; however, the order will remain in place until 4th September 2027.
An alternative route will be available for use whilst the TTRO is in force being B6309, A696, B6323, A6085, B6528, B6318, B6309, and vice versa. Should the need arise changes may be made to the alternative routes, where possible these changes will be signposted accordingly.

The closure has been requested by United Infrastructure in order to excavate to install a new water main.
In order to minimise future disruption, other contractors may be undertaking works throughout the duration of this Order.
