What is happening?

ESSEX COUNTY COUNCIL

(Forest Glade, North Weald Bassett/Woodside, Thornwood) - (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2026
Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.
Effect of the order:
1. To temporarily close that length of Forest Glade, North Weald Bassett in the District of Epping Forest, from its junction with Epping Road for a distance of approximately 210m in a southerly direction.

2. To temporarily close that length of Woodside, Thornwood in the District of Epping, from its junction with Epping Road for a distance of approximately 1265m in a north westerly direction.

The closures (for Forest Glade will commence on 13th July 2026 to 26th July 2026) for 14 days, and then the closures for (Woodside will commence on 20th July 2026 to 21st November 2026) for 124 days, or where stated on a valid permit (AZ5011001508920/AZ5011001508925 – Cadent Gas). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closures are required for the safety of the public and workforce while gas main replacement works are undertaken by Cadent Gas.

An alternative route is available via: High Road, Thornwood Road, The Plain, Epping Road (with access only into Woodside) and vice versa.

The Order will come into effect on 18th June 2026 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.

(Rookery Road, High Ongar) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2026
Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.
Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Rookery Road, High Ongar in the District of Epping Forest, from a point approximately 210m south west of its junction with Chelmsford Road for a distance of approximately 100m in a south westerly direction.

The closure is scheduled to commence on 10th July 2026 for 4 days, or where stated on a valid permit (BC411001WGPJW392 – Openreach Limited). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while pole replacement works are undertaken by Openreach Limited.

An alternative route is available via: Rookery Road, King Street, A414 and vice versa.

The Order will come into effect on 18th June 2026 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.

(Various Roads, Epping Forest) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic & Temporary Introduction of a Clearway) (Streetworks No.9) Order 2026
Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.
Effect of the order:
1. To temporarily close those lengths of road in the District of Epping Forest, as detailed in the Schedule.

2. A temporary ‘No Waiting, No Loading and No Stopping’ restriction will be introduced on both sides of carriageway on the above lengths of road for the duration of the closures to facilitate the works. Signs will be installed indicating when the No Waiting restriction will be in force.

"The Essex County Council (Epping District) (Prohibition of Waiting, Loading and Stopping) and (On Street Parking Places) (Civil Enforcement Area) Consolidation Order 2019" will be temporarily amended to include the temporary ‘No Waiting, No Loading and No Stopping at Any Time’ restriction and suspend any existing parking and waiting restrictions on the above lengths of roads only. All other restrictions and exemptions contained in the aforementioned Order and Amendments to that Order shall remain in force.

The works are scheduled to commence after 18th June 2026, as stated on a valid permit. The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on One.Network.

The roads will be closed to facilitate each phase and then re-opened to the public. Access will be maintained for emergency services. Diversion routes will be signed at each location, and residents will be informed of the dates of each phase via letter/leaflet drop and advanced warning signs on the roads.

The closures are required for the safety of the public and workforce while water main replacement works are undertaken by Thames Water.

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council has made the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.
Effect of the Order:
To temporarily close that length of Abbess Road, Little Laver in the District of Epping Forest, from a point approximately 140m south west of its junction with Little Laver Road for a distance of approximately 95m in a south westerly direction.

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council has made the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.
Effect of the order:
To temporarily close that length of Greensted Road, Ongar in the District of Epping Forest, from a point approximately 175m north west of its junction with Drapers Corner for a distance of approximately 115m in a north westerly direction.

The closure is scheduled to commence on 1st July 2026 for 3 days, or where stated on a valid permit (MX04410318428 – Affinity Water Limited). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while new connection works are undertaken by Affinity Water Limited.

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council has made the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.
Effect of the order:
1. To temporarily close that length of High Road, Loughton in the District of Epping Forest, from its junction with Warren Hill to its junction with Albion Hill a distance of approximately 295m.

2. To temporarily introduce a ‘No Waiting, No Loading and No Stopping’ in the above length of road for the duration of the closure only.

The Essex County Council (Epping Forest District) (Prohibition of Waiting, Loading and Stopping) and (On Street Parking Places) (Civil Enforcement Area) Consolidation Order 2019" will be temporarily amended to include the temporary ‘No Waiting, No Loading and No Stopping at Any Time’ restriction and suspend any existing parking and waiting restrictions on the above length of road only. All other restrictions and exemptions contained in the aforementioned Order and Amendments to that Order shall remain in force.

The closure/restriction is scheduled to commence on 29th June 2026 for 20 nights (20:00 – 05:00), or where stated on a valid permit (EP201EH2401105 – Essex County Council). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure/restriction is required for the safety of the public and workforce while drainage investigation works are undertaken by Essex County Council.

An alternative route is available via: High Road, Church Hill, Goldings Hill, Wake Arms Roundabout, Epping New Road, Robin Hood Roundabout, and vice versa.

The Order came into effect on 4th June 2026 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.

(Rivermill, Harlow) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2026
Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council has made the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.
Effect of the order:
To temporarily close that length of Rivermill, Harlow in the District of Harlow, from a point approximately 20m north of its junction with The Hornbeams for a distance of approximately 60m in a south easterly direction.

The closure is scheduled to commence on 1st July 2026 for 3 days, or where stated on a valid permit (EP201EH2402825 – Essex County Council). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council has made the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.
Effect of the order:
1. To temporarily close that length of road in the District of Harlow as specified in the schedule.

2. A temporary ‘No Waiting, No Loading and No Stopping’ restriction will be introduced on both sides of carriageway on the above length of road for the duration of the closures to facilitate the works. Signs will be installed indicating when the No Waiting restriction will be in force.
