Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 - Temporary Closing Of Footpath Hitchin 035
NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council intend to make an Order under Section 14 (1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit pedestrians from using that length of Footpath Hitchin 035, Section south of Coopers Yard, for an approximate distance of 18m.
Alternative Route: on footway along Paynes Park and Tilehouse Street.

The purpose of the Order is to enable maintenance works to take place.
The section of Footpath Hitchin 035 will be closed on or after 26 June 2026 for up to 4 weeks, when signs are in place.

(Temporary Closing And Waiting Restrictions On Ryder Way, Ickleford) Order 2026
NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council intends to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using that length of Ryder Way, Ickleford from its junction with Westmill Lane north westwards for its entire length ("the Road"), except for access.
An alternative route will be via: Westmill Lane, A600 Bedford Road and Ryder Avenue.
Additionally, all vehicles are prohibited from waiting at any time on both sides of this length of Road, whilst works are in progress.

The Order is needed because works are proposed to be executed on or near the Road.
The Order will come into effect from 29 June 2026 and will be valid for a period of 18 months. The works are scheduled to take 5 days to complete and will only take effect on the days and times indicated by signs on or near the Road.

NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council intends to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using that length of St Martins Road, Knebworth from its junction with B197 London Road north eastwards for a distance of approximately 113m ("the Road").
An alternative route will be via: B197 London Road, Swangleys Lane, Old Lane and St Martins Road.

The Order is needed because utility service works are proposed to be executed on or near the Road.

NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council intends to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using that length of A507 Clothall Road, Baldock/Clothall, A505 (unnamed road), Rushden and A505 Baldock Road, Rushden/Cottered from its junction with the Wallington Road/South Road roundabout south eastwards, north eastwards, south eastwards, north eastwards, south eastwards, eastwards and south westwards to its junction with the A10 Buntingford Bypass/B10308 Baldock Road roundabout, a distance of approximately 12329m ("the Road").
An alternative route will be via: A507 Clothall Road, B656 Royston Road, A505 (Baldock Bypass/Royston Road/Baldock Road/Royston Bypass), A10 (Melbourn Road/Priory Lane/Barkway Street/London Road/Ermine Street/unnamed road/Buntingford Bypass).
or via: A10 (Buntingford Bypass/unnamed road/Ermine Street/London Road/Market Hill/Priory Lane/Melbourn Road), A505 (Royston Bypass/Baldock Road/Royston Road/Baldock Bypass), B656 (Royston Bypass Interchange with Wallington Road/Royston Road) and A507 Clothall Road.

Additionally, the existing 7.5 tonnes weight restriction on A507 Clothall Road, Baldock/Clothall, A505 (unnamed road), Rushden and A505 Baldock Road, Rushden/Cottered from its northernmost junction with B656 Royston Road south eastwards, north eastwards, south eastwards, north eastwards, south eastwards, eastwards and south westwards to its junction with the A10 Buntingford Bypass/B10308 Baldock Road roundabout, a distance of approximately 13115 metres, will be temporarily suspended to enable all vehicles to use this length of road, whilst works are in progress.

The Order is needed because works are proposed to be executed on or near the Road.
The Order will come into effect from 1 July 2026 and will be valid for a period of 18 months. The works are scheduled to take 5 nights to complete and will only take effect on the days and times indicated by signs on or near the Road.

(Temporary Closing Of Various Footpaths In Stevenage) Order No.3 2026
NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council intends to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all pedestrians from using the following lengths of footpath ("the Footpaths"):-
1. the footpath situated between No.16 and No.18 Spring Drive, Stevenage from a point in line with the north eastern boundary of No.18 Spring Drive south westwards, north westwards and south westwards to its junction with Devonshire Close, a distance of approximately 196m.
An alternative route will be via: the footpath situated on the west side of Nos. 1-43 Gladstone Court, the footway situated on the south west side of Broadwater Crescent, the footway situated on the north west side of Spring Drive, the footpath fronting Nos. 36 - 42 Spring Drive, the footpath situated between Nos. 23 and 38 Berkeley Close, the footway situated on the west and north west sides of Berkeley Close, the footway situated on the north east side of Hazelmere Road and the footway situated on the south east side of Devonshire Close.

2. the footpath situated on the west side of No.42 Spring Drive, Stevenage from a point in line with the southern boundary of No.42 Spring Drive north westwards and north eastwards for a distance of approximately 16m.
An alternative route will be via: the footpath fronting Nos. 36 - 42 Spring Drive, the footway situated on the north west side of Spring Drive, the footway situated on the south west side of Broadwater Crescent and the footpath situated on the west side of Nos. 1 - 43 Gladstone Court.

3. the footpath situated between No.23 and No.38 Berkeley Close, Stevenage from its junction with Berkeley Close eastwards and north eastwards for a distance of approximately 77m.
An alternative route will be via: the footway situated on the west and north west sides of Berkeley Close, the footway situated on the north east side of Hazelmere Road, the footway situated on the south east side of Devonshire Close and the footpath situated between No.16 and No.18 Spring Drive.

4. the footpath fronting Nos. 36 - 42 Spring Drive, Stevenage from a point 30 metres north west of its junction with Spring Drive north westwards for a distance of approximately 77m.
An alternative route will be via: the footpath fronting Nos. 36 - 42 Spring Drive, the footway situated on the north west side of Spring Drive, the footway situated on the south west side of Broadwater Crescent, the footpath situated on the west side of Nos. 1 - 43 Gladstone Court, the footpath situated between No. 23 and No. 38 Berkeley Close and the footpath situated between No. 16 and No. 18 Spring Drive.

(Temporary Traffic Management Measures On Various Roads In Weston And Graveley During The ‘Groundswell Agricultural Festival’) Order 2026
NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council intends to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to effect on the following lengths of roads ("the Roads"); will be:-
1. To prohibit all vehicular traffic from using that length of Hitchin Road/Lannock Hill, Weston from a point 70 metres north east of its junction with Friars Road north westwards for a distance of approximately 200m.
An alternative route will be via: Hitchin Road, Damask Green Road, Fore Street, Hatch Lane, Chalk Hills, B197 London Road, A505 Baldock Bypass and B197 Jacks Hill.

2. All vehicular traffic is prohibited from proceeding along that length of Lannock Hill, Weston from its junction with B197 Jacks Hill south eastwards, north eastwards, eastwards and south eastwards to its junction with Weston Public Footpath No.005, a distance of approximately 1707m, other than in an easterly direction only, when signs are in place.
An alternative route will be via: B197 Jacks Hill, A505 Baldock Bypass, B197 London Road, Chalk Hills, Hatch Lane, Fore Street, Damask Green Road and Hitchin Road.

3. All vehicular traffic is prohibited from being driven at a speed exceeding 30mph on that length of Lannock Hill, Weston from its junction with B197 Jacks Hill south eastwards, north eastwards, eastwards and south eastwards to its junction with Weston Public Footpath No.005, a distance of approximately 1707 metres, when signs are in place.

4. All vehicular traffic is prohibited from being driven at a speed exceeding 30mph on that length of B197 Jacks Hill, Graveley from a point 70m south west of its junction with A505 Baldock Bypass south eastwards and south westwards for a distance of approximately 500m, when signs are in place.

The Order is needed to ensure public safety and prevent accidents for the duration of the ‘Groundswell Agricultural Festival’.
The Order will come into effect from 30 June 2026 and will be valid for a period of 18 months. The works are scheduled to take 3 days to complete and will only take effect on the days and times indicated by signs on or near the Roads.

NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council intends to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using the following lengths of roads ("the Roads"):-
1. that length of Brampton Park Road, Hitchin from its junction with Bearton Road north westwards for a distance of approximately 148m.

2. that length of Balmoral Road, Hitchin from its junction with Brampton Park Road north westwards for a distance of approximately 10m.

Temporary Traffic Management Measures On Silam Road And The Footpath Situated Between Nos. 26 - 30 Silam Road, Stevenage) Order 2026
NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council has made the above Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, the effect on the following length of road ("the Road") and footpath ("the Footpath") will be:-
1. To prohibit all vehicular traffic from using length of Silam Road, Stevenage from its junction with Cuttys Lane north eastwards and north westwards to its junction with A1155 Fairlands Way, a distance of approximately 426m, except for access.
An alternative route will be via: Cuttys Lane, A1155 St Georges Way and A1155 Fairlands Way.

Additionally, all vehicles are prohibited from waiting at any time on both sides of this length of Road, whilst works are in progress.

2. To prohibit all pedestrians from using the footpath fronting Nos. 26 - 30 Silam Road, Stevenage from its junction with Garden Walk north westwards to its junction with Silam Road, a distance of approximately 33m.
An alternative route will be via: the footway situated on the north side of Garden Walk and the footway situated on the east side of Silam Road.

The Order is needed because works are proposed to be executed on or near the Road and Footpath.
The Order will come into effect on 15 June 2026 and will be valid for a period of 6 months. The works are scheduled to take 5 days to complete and will only take effect on the days and times indicated by signs on or near the Road and Footpath.

NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council has made the above Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using the following lengths of roads ("the Roads"):-
1. that length of York Road, Hitchin from its junction with Bearton Road south westwards for a distance of approximately 140m.
An alternative route will be via: Bearton Road, Ickleford Road, A505 Bunyan Road, Bunyan Road and York Road.

2. that length of Lancaster Avenue, Hitchin from its junction with York Road north westwards for a distance of approximately 10m.

Temporary Closing And Waiting Restrictions On Various Roads In Hitchin) Order 2026
NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council has made the above Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using the following lengths of roads ("the Roads"), except for access and to prohibit all vehicles from waiting at any time on both sides of these lengths of Roads whilst works are in progress:-
1. that length of Wymondley Road, Hitchin from its junction with Chiltern Road south eastwards to its junction with Girons Close, a distance of approximately 362m.
An alternative route will be via: Wymondley Road, Highbury Road, Whitehill Road, A602 Stevenage Road, Stevenage Road, Arch Road, Hitchin Road and Wymondley Road or via Wymondley Road, Hitchin Road, Arch Road, Stevenage Road, A602 Stevenage Road, Whitehill Road, Hollow Lane and Wymondley Road.

2. that length of Wymondley Close, Hitchin from its junction with Wymondley Road north eastwards for its entire length.
There is no alternative route available, but access will be maintained wherever possible throughout the duration of the works.

3. that length of Sorrel Garth, Hitchin from its junction with Wymondley Road north eastwards for its entire length.

Pedestrian Crossing And Road Humps Notice (Queen Street And Hollow Lane, Hitchin) 2026
NOTICE is given that the Hertfordshire County Council in order to improve road safety proposes under Section 23 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 to construct parallel and puffin pedestrian crossing facilities on those lengths of Queen Street and Hollow Lane, Hitchin as specified in Schedule 1 to this Notice, an existing signalised crossing to the north east of Biggin Lane is being removed as part of the proposals.

It is also proposed under sections 90A - 90F of the Highways Act 1980 and in accordance with The Highways (Road Humps) Regulations 1999, to install a raised speed table in that length of Queen Street, Hitchin as specified in Schedule 2 to this Notice.

SCHEDULE 1

Parallel and puffin pedestrian crossing facilities – to be located on those sections of road listed below and as set out in the scheme plan – Parts of Queen Street and Hollow Lane.

Parallel Pedestrian Crossing to be constructed on the raised speed table in Schedule 2

Queen Street, centred on a point 10.3 metres south west of a point in line with the projected south west kerb line of Biggin Lane.

Puffin Pedestrian Crossings

Queen Street, centred on a point 13.1 metres south west of a point in line with the projected south west kerb line of Hollow Lane.

Hollow Lane, centred on a point 6.5 metres south east of a point in line with the projected south east kerb line of Queen Street.

SCHEDULE 2

Raised speed table – that length of road listed below and as set out in the scheme plan – part of Queen Street

from a point 6 metres south west of a point in line with the projected south west kerb line of Biggin Lane south westwards for 8.8 metres.

The above raised speed table will be constructed at a height of approximately 65mm above the existing carriageway with on/off gradients of approximately 1:20.
