What is happening?
CITY OF NEWCASTLE UPON TYNE (SUNSHINE 5K ) TEMPORARY TRAFFIC REGULATION ORDER 2026
1. NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that on 11 June 2026 the Council of the City of Newcastle upon Tyne made an Order under Section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, the effect of which will be to prohibit any vehicular traffic to proceed on the Quayside, between its junctions with Sandhill and Broad Chare.
2. There is no alternative route for traffic.
3. The order is required to allow works to be carried out on or near the highway.
4. Exemptions will be provided for vehicles engaged in the said works and police, fire brigade and ambulance vehicles on emergency call.
5. The Order will come into operation on 17 June 2026 at 17:30 and will continue, as and when the relevant traffic signs are displayed, up to 17 June 2026 at 21:00 or until the proposed works are completed, whichever is the earlier.
