What is happening?

Manchester City Council

Manchester City Council has made the CITY OF MANCHESTER (EASTLANDS AREA) (PROHIBITION AND RESTRICTION OF WAITING AND LOADING, LIMITED WAITING PARKING PLACES, RESIDENTS PARKING AND REVOCATION) ORDER 2024 (AMENDMENT NO.3) ORDER 2026 under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984. The effect of the Order will be to introduce the following:

NO WAITING AT ANY TIME:

Badby Close, both sides from Carruthers Street in a north easterly direction for 10m. Carruthers Street, (i) northeast side from 19m north west of Badby Close in a south easterly direction to Every Street, (ii) north-east side from Merrill Street in a south easterly direction for 43m.

NO LOADING/UNLOADING AT ANY TIME:

Badby Close, both sides from Carruthers Street in a north easterly direction for 10m. Carruthers Street, (i) northeast side from 10m north west of Badby Close in a south easterly direction for 10m, (ii) north-east side from Merrill Street in a south easterly direction for 40m.

LIMITED WAITING PARKING PLACE, 1 HOUR 30 MINUTES, NO RETURN WITHIN 4 HOURS, MIDDAY TO 11PM ON ALL DAYS, (EXEMPTION FOR PARKING PERMIT HOLDERS):

Carruthers Street, north-east side from 19m north west of Badby Close in a north westerly direction for 24m, width of 1.8m.

The Order was made on 10th June 2026 and will come into effect on 17th June 2026. A copy of the Order and the plan can be requested by emailing phlegal@manchester.gov. uk or inspected at the Customer Service Centre Ground Floor, Town Hall Extension, M60 2LA (for Sat. Nav. use M2 5DB) between the hours of 9am and 4.30pm Monday to Friday. 

Anyone wishing to question the validity of the Order or any provision contained in it on the grounds that it is not within the powers conferred by the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 or that any requirement of that Act or of any instrument made under it has not been complied with in relation to the Order may within 6 weeks from 10th June 2026 apply to the High Court for such purpose.
