Oxfordshire - Multiple Speed Limit Amendments & Parking Restriction Changes
What is happening?

1. (STANTON ST. JOHN PARISH) (SPEED LIMITS) ORDER 20**
2. (B4027 HOLTON TO ISLIP) (50 MPH SPEED LIMIT) ORDER 20**
NOTICE is given that Oxfordshire County Council proposes to make the above orders under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 and all other enabling powers.
The effect of the orders – in support of the wider ‘Quiet Lanes’ programme – is to amend the existing speed limits in Stanton St John as follows:
- New 20mph speed limit on Shepherds Pit Lane – extending south-westwards from its junction with the B4027 Wheatley Road for its entire length, replacing the existing 60mph National speed limit in the process;
- Extend the existing 30mph speed limit on the B4027 Wheatley Road – from a point 148 metres northwest of its junction with Cox Lane, to a point 95 metres northwest of its junction with Shepherds Pit Lane – a distance of approx.385 metres, replacing that length of the existing 50mph speed limit in the process.
Additionally – for administrative purposes – the existing 30mph speed limit on Bayswater Road will be added to the Stanton St John Parish order, with no material changes to the signed limit on-the-ground.
The Oxfordshire County Council (Stanton St. John Parish) (Speed Limits) Order 2023, and the Oxfordshire County Council (B4027 Holton to Islip) (50 mph Speed Limit) Order 2021 will be revoked/replaced as required.

Objections to the proposals and other representations specifying the grounds on which they are made may be sent in writing to the address below by the end of 10 July 2026.

(OXFORD CITY – VARIOUS ROADS) (MAP BASED) (PROHIBITION AND RESTRICTION OF WAITING AND PERMITTED PARKING) (VARIATION NO.6) ORDER 2026
NOTICE is given that on 8 June 2026 Oxfordshire County Council made the above order under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984. The order, which comes into force on 15 June formalises the parking restriction amendments introduced in November 2025 on Wren Road in Oxford as part of the ‘Cutteslowe School Zone Scheme’. Specifically, these comprise of the following measures:
- Removal of the previous shared-use parking bay “permit holders or 4 hours Limited waiting Mon-Fri 10am-4pm, no return within 4 hours” on the east side, opposite the access to the school,
- Introduction of 2 Disabled Persons Parking Places:
a. for 6.6 metres on the east side adjacent to the existing DPPP at the northern end, opposite the school, and
b. for 6.6 metres on the east side at the southern end of the previous shared-use bay, north of its junction with Wolsey Road, - New ‘No Waiting at Any Time’ parking prohibition (double yellow lines) between the proposed new DPPPs – a distance of approx.16 metres.
The scheme has also seen the implementation of signing & lining improvements and bollards & planters to further discourage traffic.
The Oxfordshire County Council (Oxford City – Various Roads) (Map Based) (Prohibition and Restriction of Waiting and Permitted Parking) Order 2026 is further amended as necessary, updating Map Tile ‘EJ56’ in the process.

If you wish to question the validity of this Order or of any provision contained in it on the grounds that it is not within the powers conferred by the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, or on the grounds that any requirement of this Act or of any instrument made under it has not been complied with in relation to this Order, you may within six weeks from 8 June 2026 apply to the High Court for this purpose.

(KENNINGTON AND SOUTH HINKSEY) (SPEED LIMITS) ORDER 2026
NOTICE is given that on 8 June 2026 Oxfordshire County Council made the above order under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984. The order, which comes into effect on 15 June extends the current village 20mph speed limit in South Hinksey, by replacing the existing 60mph National speed limit with a 20mph speed limit on Parker Road, South Hinksey from its junction with St Lawrence Road, northwards to a point 60 metres north of its junction with Manor Road.
The Oxfordshire County Council (Kennington and South Hinksey) (Speed Limits) Order 2023 is revoked/replaced.
