What is happening?
CITY OF BRISTOL
(VARIOUS ROADS, PORTWAY (A4) AREA, ASHTON, AVONMOUTH, CLIFTON, HOTWELLS, SEA MILLS AND SHIREHAMPTON, BRISTOL) (TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF USE BY VEHICLES) (TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF LEFT TURN) (TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF RIGHT TURN) (TEMPORARY SUSPENSION OF WEIGHT LIMIT) ORDER 2026
NOTICE is hereby given that the City Council of Bristol in pursuance of the provisions of section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended intend to make an Order the effect of which will be:
1. to close, temporarily, to vehicles the lengths of roads as specified in Schedule 1 to this Notice;
2. to prohibit, temporarily, any vehicle proceeding in the road specified in column 1 of Schedule 2 to this Notice, from making a left turn into the road specified in relation to that road in column 2 of the said Schedule;
3. to prohibit, temporarily, any vehicle proceeding in a road specified in column 1 of Schedule 3 to this Notice, from making a right turn into the road specified in relation to that road in column 2 of the said Schedule;
4. to suspend, temporarily, when appropriate signs are covered, the prohibition of entry for heavy vehicles in operation from Portway Roundabout into Avonmouth Road; and
5. to suspend, temporarily, when appropriate signs are covered, the prohibition of heavy vehicles in operation in lengths of High Street, Hung Road, Lower High Street, Park Hill, Roman Way, Shirehampton Road and Station Road, so as to allow access and egress for works vehicles and to give effect to the alternative routes.
The Order is required because works are being or are proposed to be executed on or near the roads and will be operative from 29th June 2026 for a maximum period of 18 months.
