What is happening?

TEMPORARY TRAFFIC RESTRICTIONS

Notice is hereby given that City of York Council (the Council), in exercise of powers under Sections 14(1) & 15(8) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 (the Act), on Thursday, 11 June 2026 in respect of the locations numbered (1), (2), (3), (4), (5), (6), (7) & (8). Furthermore, the Council, not less than 7 days from the publication of this Notice, intends to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Act in respect of the locations numbered (9), (10), (11), (12), (13), (14) & (15).

(1) WIGGINTON ROAD LEVEL CROSSING, YORK

This Order prohibits vehicles from proceeding through that length of road at Wigginton Road Level Crossing, York (closed road) during the period when railway maintenance works are being undertaken thereon, commencing at 2300hrs on Monday, 15 June 2026 and ending at 0600hrs on Tuesday, 16 June 2026 (works period) or at a time when the works have been completed whichever is the earlier. This is to ensure that the said works can be carried out safely. An alternative route for diverted vehicles will be signed during the works period via Wigginton Road, Haxby Road and A1237.

(2) LINK AVENUE, YORK

This Order prohibits vehicles from proceeding and waiting in that length of road on Link Avenue, York between its junctions with Burton Stone Lane and Lucas Avenue (closed roads) during the period when telecoms works are being undertaken thereon, commencing at 0001hrs on Monday, 15 June 2026 and ending at 2359hrs on Wednesday, 17 June 2026 (works period) or at a time when the works have been completed whichever is the earlier. This is to ensure that the said works can be carried out safely. An alternative route for diverted vehicles will be signed during the works period via Burton Stone Lane, Rowntree Avenue and Lucas Avenue.

(3) BISHOPHILL JUNIOR, YORK

This Order prohibits vehicles from proceeding and waiting in that length of road on Bishophill Junior, York between the junctions with Prospect Terrace and Smales Street (closed road) during the period when electricity mains works are being undertaken thereon, commencing at 0001hrs on Monday, 15 June 2026 and ending at 2359hrs on Friday, 19 June 2026 (works period) or at a time when the works have been completed whichever is the earlier. This is to ensure that the said works can be carried out safely. Access for residents and emergency services will be maintained. An alternative route for diverted vehicles will be signed during the works period via Fetter Lane, Skeldergate, Micklegate, Priory Street.

(4) MILL LANE, HEWORTH

This Order prohibits vehicles from proceeding and waiting in that length of road on Mill Lane, Heworth between the junctions of Heworth Green and John Street (closed roads) during the period when water mains works are being undertaken thereon, commencing at 0800hrs on Monday, 15 June 2026 and ending at 1700hrs on Friday, 19 June 2026 (works period) or at a time when the works have been completed whichever is the earlier. This is to ensure that the said works can be carried out safely. An alternative route for diverted vehicles will be signed during the works period via Hawthorn Grove, Layerthorpe, Eboracum Way and Heworth Green.

(5) PRECENTORS COURT, YORK

This Order prohibits pedestrians from proceeding and waiting in that length of footpath on Precentors Court, York between the projected south-eastern boundary of property No. 8 High Petergate and a point 19 metres north-east of said boundary (closed footpath) during the period when water mains works are being undertaken thereon, commencing at 0800hrs on Monday, 15 June 2026 and ending at 1700hrs on Friday, 19 June 2026 (works period) or at a time when the works have been completed whichever is the earlier. This is to ensure that the said works can be carried out safely. It is envisaged that the footpath will only be closed throughout the works period. Access for residents and emergency vehicles will be maintained throughout. An alternative route for diverted vehicles will be signed during the works period via Precentors Court and High Petergate Footpath.

(6) PARKSIDE CLOSE, ACOMB

This Order prohibits vehicles from proceeding and waiting in that length of road on Parkside Close, Acomb in its entirety from its junction with West Bank (closed roads) during the period when telecoms works are being undertaken thereon, commencing at 0001hrs on Monday, 15 June 2026 and ending at 2359hrs on Monday, 22 June 2026 (works period) or at a time when the works have been completed whichever is the earlier. This is to ensure that the said works can be carried out safely. It is envisaged that the road will only be closed between 0001hrs and 2359hrs each day of the works period. An alternative route for diverted vehicles will not be signed during the works period. Access for residents will be maintained throughout the works period.

(7) MOOR LANE, MURTON

This Order prohibits vehicles from proceeding and waiting in that length of road on Moor Lane, Murton between the projected north-eastern boundary of property known as Lilac Tree House and the projected eastern boundary of property No. 8 (closed roads) during the period when highway maintenance works are being undertaken thereon, commencing at 0900hrs on Tuesday, 16 June 2026 and ending at 1530hrs on Wednesday, 17 June 2026 (works period) or at a time when the works have been completed whichever is the earlier. This is to ensure that the said works can be carried out safely. It is envisaged that the road will only be closed between 0900hrs and 1500hrs each day of the works period. An alternative route for diverted vehicles will be signed during the works period via Moor Lane, Bad Bargain Lane, Holtby Lane, Main Street, Straight Lane, Stamford Bridge Road and Murton Lane.

(8) HIGH PETERGATE, YORK

This Order prohibits vehicles from proceeding and waiting in that length of road on High Petergate, York between the projected south-western boundaries of property No’s 4 & 10 (closed roads) during the period when water mains works are being undertaken thereon, commencing at 0800hrs on Monday, 15 June 2026 and ending at 1700hrs on Friday, 19 June 2026 (works period) or at a time when the works have been completed whichever is the earlier. This is to ensure that the said works can be carried out safely. An alternative route for diverted vehicles will be signed during the works period via St Leonard’s Place and Duncombe Place.

(9) BRAMHAM ROAD & BRAMHAM AVENUE, CHAPELFIELDS

This Order will prohibit vehicles from proceeding and waiting in that length of road on Bramham Road & Bramham Avenue, Chapelfields (i) on Bramham Road between its junctions with Bramham Grove and Bramham Avenue and (ii) on Bramham Avenue between its junctions with Bramham Road and Sanderson Court (closed roads) during the period when telecoms works are being undertaken thereon, commencing at 0900hrs on Sunday, 21 June 2026 and ending at 1800hrs on Sunday, 21 June 2026 (works period) or at a time when the works have been completed whichever is the earlier. This is to ensure that the said works can be carried out safely. An alternative route for diverted vehicles will be signed during the works period via Barkston Avenue, Barkston Road, Chapelfields Road, Ridgeway.

(10) HAXBY ROAD LEVEL CROSSING, HAXBY

This Order will prohibit vehicles from proceeding through that length of road at Haxby Road Level Crossing, Haxby (closed road) during the period when railway maintenance works are being undertaken thereon, commencing at 2359hrs on Monday, 22 June 2026 and ending at 0515hrs on Tuesday, 23 June 2026 (works period) or at a time when the works have been completed whichever is the earlier. This is to ensure that the said works can be carried out safely. An alternative route for diverted vehicles will be signed during the works period via York Road, The Village, Mill Lane, Wigginton Road, A1237.

(11) POTTERY LANE, STRENSALL

This Order will prohibit vehicles from proceeding and waiting in that length of road on Pottery Lane, Strensall (between the projected western boundary of property known as Park House Farm and to the junction onto Carr Lane (closed roads) during the period when telecoms works are being undertaken thereon, commencing at 1900hrs on Monday, 22 June 2026 and ending at 0600hrs on Thursday, 25 June 2026 (works period) or at a time when the works have been completed whichever is the earlier. This is to ensure that the said works can be carried out safely. It is envisaged that the road will only be closed between 1900hrs and 0600hrs each day of the works period. An alternative route for diverted vehicles will be signed during the works period via Sheriff Hutton Road, Moxby Lane and Carr Lane.

(12) LINK ROAD, ACOMB

This Order will prohibit vehicles from proceeding and waiting in that length of carriageway on Link Road, Acomb between the roundabout controlled junctions with York Road and Front Street (closed roads) during the period when telecoms works are being undertaken thereon, commencing at 2000hrs on Monday, 22 June 2026 and ending at 0600hrs on Saturday, 27 June 2026 (works period) or at a time when the works have been completed whichever is the earlier. This is to ensure that the said works can be carried out safely. It is envisaged that the road will only be closed between 2000hrs and 0600hrs each day of the works period. An alternative route for diverted vehicles will be signed during the works period via Front Street, Askham Lane, Ridgeway, Wetherby Road, The Green, York Road. A separate diversion for pedestrians will also be signed during the works period.

(13) MILLFIELD LANE, POPPLETON

This Order will prohibit vehicles from proceeding and waiting in that length of road on Millfield Lane, Poppleton between the projected north-eastern boundary of property No. 12 to its junction with Church Lane (closed roads) during the period when gas mains works are being undertaken thereon, commencing at 0800hrs on Monday, 22 June 2026 and ending at 1700hrs on Wednesday, 01 July 2026 (works period) or at a time when the works have been completed whichever is the earlier. This is to ensure that the said works can be carried out safely. It is envisaged that the road will be remain closed throughout the works period with access for residents and emergency vehicles being maintained throughout. Additionally, all ‘on-street’ parking places situated (i) on both sides of Allerton Drive, between the projected north-western boundary of property No. 7 to its junction with Nether Way both sides of Riversvale Drive, (ii) between the projected north-western boundary of property No. 22 to its junction with Main Street and (iii) on the western side of Main Street between its junction with Riversvale Drive and a point 20 metres south-west of said junction will be suspended during the works period. An alternative route for diverted vehicles will be signed during the works period via Ebor Way, Allerton Drive, Riversvale Drive and Main Street.

(14) CHURCH LANE, YORK

This Order will prohibit vehicles from proceeding and waiting in that length of road on Church Lane, York between its junction with Low Ousegate and the projected north-western boundary of property No. 2 (closed roads) during the period when water mains works are being undertaken thereon, commencing at 0800hrs on Wednesday, 24 June 2026 and ending at 1800hrs on Friday, 26 June 2026 (works period) or at a time when the works have been completed whichever is the earlier. This is to ensure that the said works can be carried out safely. It is envisaged that the road will be closed throughout the works period. An alternative route for diverted vehicles will not be signed during the works period. Access for pedestrians will be maintained throughout the works period.

(15) ALDWARK, YORK

This Order will prohibit vehicles from proceeding and waiting in that length of road on Aldwark, York (between the projected south-eastern boundaries of property No’s. 6 &16 (closed roads) during the period when water mains works are being undertaken thereon, commencing at 0800hrs on Wednesday, 24 June 2026 and ending at 1700hrs on Friday, 26 June 2026 (works period) or at a time when the works have been completed whichever is the earlier. This is to ensure that the said works can be carried out safely. It is envisaged that the road will be closed throughout the works period. An alternative route for diverted vehicles will not be signed during the works period. Access for cyclists and pedestrians will be maintained throughout the works period.

The above temporary Orders will not prohibit works or emergency access nor will they prohibit access to premises provided that access is not prevented by on-going works or safety concerns. Traffic signs/barriers will indicate the extent of the prohibitions/restrictions.
