M60 Motorway, Junctions 23-24 - Temporary Prohibition Of Traffic To Renewal Of Road Markings

THE M60 MOTORWAY (JUNCTIONS 23-24 CLOCKWISE AND ANTICLOCKWISE CARRIAGEWAYS & SLIP ROADS)
(TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF TRAFFIC) ORDER 2026

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that National Highways Limited (Company No. 09346363) intends to make an Order on the M60 Motorway, in the Borough of Tameside, in the County of Greater Manchester, to enable resurfacing, renewal of road markings, studs and other general maintenance works to be carried out in safety.

The Order will impose prohibitions on the following sections of the M60 Motorway:

i. ban all traffic from the anticlockwise carriageway, from the last point of the exit slip road at J24, to the first point of the entry slip road at J23;

ii. ban all traffic from the clockwise carriageway, from the last point of the exit slip road at J23, to the first point of the entry slip road at J24;

iii. ban all traffic from the anticlockwise entry slip road at J24;

iv. ban all traffic from the anticlockwise exit slip road at J23:

v. ban all traffic from the clockwise entry slip road at J23 leading from the A635 Manchester Road;

vi. ban all traffic from the clockwise entry slip road at J23 leading from the A6140;

vii. ban all traffic from the clockwise exit slip road at J24.

Prohibitions i.-vi. are expected to be in place during a continuous period starting at 21:00 on Friday 10 July 2026 and ending at 06:00 on Monday 13 July 2026.

Prohibitions i.-vi. are expected to be in place during a continuous period starting at 21:00 on Friday 17 July 2026 and ending at 06:00 on Monday 20 July 2026.

However, works may start and continue during subsequent continuous periods or, until completed.

Diversion routes via alternative junctions of the M60 Motorway, and local roads will be well signed.

The prohibitions will not apply to emergency services, works vehicles or any vehicle being used for winter maintenance purposes. The prohibitions will only apply during such times and to such extent as shall, be indicated by traffic signs. The Order comes into force on 9 July 2026 and has a maximum duration of eighteen months.
