What is happening?

SANDWELL METROPOLITAN BOROUGH COUNCIL

The Borough Council of Sandwell (Trinity Street, Smethwick)
(Temporary Road Closure) Order 2026 intends to temporarily prohibit vehicles from proceeding via Trinity Street. Traffic will be diverted via High Street, Stony Lane & Church Hill Street. The maximum duration is 18 months, but the work is expected to commence and be completed by 22/06/2026. Purpose – to facilitate the installation of new telecoms ducting and joint boxes by MJ Quinn (working on behalf of BT Openreach). (Temporary Road Closure) Order 2026
intends to temporarily prohibit vehicles from proceeding along Brailsford Drive, which will be closed from the the dividing line of property No’s 17/18 for 20 metres in a northerly direction. Access to any affected frontages will be maintained, but only when safety permits. No diversion route required (cul-de-sac). The maximum duration is 18 months, but the work is expected to be completed by 26/06/2026, effective from 24/06/2026 (9:30am-3:30pm). The Borough Council of Sandwell (Wilderness Lane and Peakhouse Road, Great Barr)
(Temporary Road Closures) Order 2026
intends to temporarily prohibit vehicles from proceeding along Wilderness Lane, which will be closed at the junction of Peakhouse Road, and Peakhouse Road, which will be closed at the junction of Wilderness Lane. Access to any affected frontages within both road closures will be maintained, but only when safety permits. A traffic diversion route will be signed via Birmingham Road (northerly direction), Broadway, West Bromwich Road, Walsall Road, Lyndhurst Road, Hollyhedge Road & Newton Road. A further traffic diversion route will be signed via Birmingham Road, Newton Road & vice versa. The maximum duration is 18 months, but the work is expected to commence and be completed by 25/06/2026 (9:30am-3:30pm). Purpose – to facilitate access to replace a defective service frame and cover by Severn Trent Water.
