THE A47 TRUNK ROAD (JUNCTION 17 BRETTON WAY INTERCHANGE TO EYE GREEN ROUNDABOUT) CAMBRIDGESHIRE
(TEMPORARY RESTRICTION AND PROHIBITION OF TRAFFIC) ORDER 202_
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that National Highways Limited(a) intends to make an Order on the A47 Trunk Road, in the County of Cambridgeshire, to enable resurfacing, the renewal of road markings and road signs, drainage works and general routine maintenance to be carried out in safety.
The works which would take place in phases, overnight (8pm to 6am), are expected to last for approximately 4 months, starting on or after Monday 6 July 2026.
The effect of the Order on the A47 would be to –
1. Impose, for 24 hours daily a speed restriction of 50 miles per hour on the eastbound carriageway from the exit slip road at Junction 17 Bretton Way Interchange to the western side of Eye Green Roundabout.
2. Close, in phases, the A47 –
• eastbound carriageway from the exit slip road at J17 to the western side of J20 Dogsthorpe/Paston Parkway Roundabout – diverting traffic westbound on the A47 to exit at J15 then via the A1260, A1139 and A15 to join the A47 at J20 Dogsthorpe/Paston Parkway Roundabout,
• eastbound and westbound carriageways from the eastern side of J20 Dogsthorpe/ Paston Parkway Roundabout to the western side of Welland Road Roundabout – diverting eastbound traffic to exit the A47 at J20 Dogsthorpe/Paston Parkway Roundabout then via the A15, Eye Road and A1139 to join the A47 westbound at Hodney Road Roundabout to Welland Road Roundabout, westbound vice versa,
• eastbound and westbound carriageways between Welland Road Roundabout and Hodney Road Roundabout – diverting eastbound traffic westbound on the A47 to J20 Dogsthorpe/Paston Parkway Roundabout, then via the A15, Eye Road and A1139 to Hodney Road Roundabout, westbound vice versa, and
• eastbound and westbound carriageways between Hodney Road Roundabout and Eye Green Roundabout – diverting eastbound traffic at Hodney Road Roundabout via the A1139, A605 and A141 to join the A47 westbound at Guyhirn Roundabout to Eye Green Roundabout, westbound vice versa.
During the works all slip roads adjacent to the lengths of closed carriageways at 2 above would be closed.
The temporary mandatory speed limit (which would not apply to emergency service or special force vehicles), closures (which would not apply to emergency service, traffic officer, works or winter maintenance vehicles) and diversion routes would be clearly indicated by traffic signs. The Order would come into force on 29 June 2026 and may continue in force until the works detailed above have been completed, or for a maximum duration of 18 months, whichever is the earlier.
