(TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF TRAFFIC) ORDER (NO 177) 2026
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Council of the City of Wakefield has made an Order on traffic management grounds for BT Pole testing works to be carried out as follows:
ROAD TO BE CLOSED: Silver Street, Wakefield outside/opposite number 48. The Order shall also have the effect of closing any roads at their junctions the closed length of Silver Street.
ALTERNATIVE ROUTES: N/A. Dead end. Access only.
PERIOD OF CLOSURE: From and including 18th June 2026 between 09.30 hours and 15.30 hours or until completion of the works, whichever is sooner.

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Council of the City of Wakefield has made an Order on traffic management grounds for essential upgrade to infrastructure, Northern Power Grid to be carried out as follows:-
ROAD TO BE CLOSED: Broadacre Road, Ossett outside numbers 24 to 26 to opposite numbers 35 to 37. The Order shall also have the effect of closing any roads at their junctions the closed length of Broadacre Road.
ALTERNATIVE ROUTES: Athol Street, Queens Drive, Towngate, Broadgate or Springwell Road, Fellowsides Lane, Sunnydale Park, Station Road, Queens Drive & Athol Street.

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Council of the City of Wakefield has made an Order on traffic management grounds for carriageway planning & surfacing to be carried out as follows:
ROAD TO BE CLOSED: Thornes Lane, Wakefield between Field Lane and Denby Dale Road. The Order shall also have the effect of closing any roads at their junctions the closed length of Thornes Lane.
ALTERNATIVE ROUTES: Thornes Lane, Denby Dale Road, Ings Road, Kirkgate, Doncaster Road, Bridge Street, Kirkgate, Ings Road, Thornes Lane. Reverse – Thornes Lane, Ings Road, Denby Dale Road.
PERIOD OF CLOSURE: From and including 14th June 2026 between 07.30 hours and 15.30 hours or until completion of the works, whichever is sooner.

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Council of the City of Wakefield has made an Order on traffic management grounds to replace BT pole to be carried out as follows:-
ROAD TO BE CLOSED: The Balk, Walton at the side of number 74. The Order shall also have the effect of closing any roads at their junctions the closed length of The Balk.
ALTERNATIVE ROUTES: No diversion, residents will be given access where possible.

ROAD TO BE CLOSED: Bottom Boat Road, Stanley, opposite house number 205, top of track for house numbers 68 to 74. The Order shall also have the effect of closing any roads at their junctions the closed length of Bottom Boat Road.
ALTERNATIVE ROUTES: No diversion, dead end, access to residents only after closure.
PERIOD OF CLOSURE: From and including 15th June 2026 to 17th June 2026, or until completion of the works, whichever is sooner.

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Council of the City of Wakefield by reason of works to allow for gas main disconnection works to be carried out on or near Shelley Walk, Stanley outside number 2 to the junction of Byron Grove, and the likelihood of danger arising to the public, has made an Order the effect of which is that no person shall proceed in the length of public footpath.
Alternative route for pedestrians: Byron Grove, Stanmoor Drive, Shelley Walk.
The order comes into operation on 18th June 2026 to 26th June 2026.
(HOSTINGLEY LANE, MIDDLESTOWN)
(TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF TRAFFIC) ORDER (NO 185) 2026
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Council of the City of Wakefield has made an Order on traffic management grounds for junction resurfacing works to be carried out as follows:
ROAD TO BE CLOSED: Hostingley Lane, Middlestown for approximately 50 metres, at the junction with New Road. The Order shall also have the effect of closing any roads at their junctions the closed length of Hostingley Lane.
ALTERNATIVE ROUTES: Local diversion for vehicles less than 7.5 tons only – New Road, Thornhill Road, Smithy Brook Lane, Hostingley Lane & vice versa.
PERIOD OF CLOSURE: From and including 14th June 2026 between 17.00 hours to 23.00 hours, one night only, or until completion of the works, whichever is sooner.

ROAD TO BE CLOSED: Samuel Drive, Stanley full length. The Order shall also have the effect of closing any roads at their junctions the closed length of Samuel Drive.

ROAD TO BE CLOSED: Sherwood Grove, Lupset from the junction with Townley Road to number 12. The Order shall also have the effect of closing any roads at their junctions the closed length of Sherwood Grove.
ALTERNATIVE ROUTES: No diversion, no through road.

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Council of the City of Wakefield has made an Order on traffic management grounds to install relays, connection and transfers for Northern Gas Network to be carried out as follows:-
ROAD TO BE CLOSED: Chevet Lane, Wakefield for approximately 300 metres. The Order shall also have the effect of closing any roads at their junctions the closed length of Chevet Lane.
ALTERNATIVE ROUTES: Barnsley Road, Agbrigg Road, Doncaster Road, Lodge Lane, The Avenue, Harrison Road, Shay Lane, Greenside, Walton Station Lane & vice versa.
PERIOD OF CLOSURE: From and including 18th June 2026 to 14th July 2026 between 08.00 hours to 18.00 hours or until completion of the works, whichever is sooner. Residents access to be maintained where possible.

(TITHE BARN STREET, HORBURY)
(TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF TRAFFIC) ORDER (NO 196) 2026
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Council of the City of Wakefield intend to make an Order on traffic management grounds for works to install a new Openreach pole to be carried out as follows:-
ROAD TO BE CLOSED: Tithe Barn Street, Horbury at the side of number 17 Bank Street. The Order shall also have the effect of closing any roads at their junctions the closed length of Tithe Barn Street.
ALTERNATIVE ROUTES: High Street, New Road, New Street, Church Street, Northgate (one way) and Queen Street, High Street, Tithe Barn Street ( other way ).
PERIOD OF CLOSURE: From and including 1st July 2026 at 08.00 hours to 2nd July 2026 at 17.00 hours, or until completion of the works, whichever is sooner.

(FOOTPATH NO. 1, CRIGGLESTONE)
(TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF USE) ORDER (NO 143) 2025
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Council of the City of Wakefield by reason of works to allow for public safety due to erosion of river banking to be carried out on or near Footpath No. 1, Crigglestone from the junction with Denby Dale Road, Wakefield and Footpath Wakefield No. 73, and the likelihood of danger arising to the public, has made an Order the effect of which is that no person shall proceed in the length of public footpath.
Alternative route for pedestrians: A636 Denby Dale Road, Access Road to Pugneys Country Park, unnamed path at Pugneys Country Park, Footpath Wakefield 73 & vice versa. The order comes into operation on 4th June 2025 to 4th December 2026 or until the works are complete and the route is safe to use, whichever is the sooner.
The closure was originally in force until the 3rd December 2025, however an extension was granted by the Secretary of State to extend the closure until 4th June 2026. A further extension has been granted by the Secretary of State to extend the closure to the 4th December 2026 as above.
