What is happening?

CUMBERLAND COUNCIL (VARIOUS ROADS IN THE CUMBERLAND COUNCIL AREA) (TEMPORARY TRAFFIC REGULATION) (NO.10) ORDER 2026

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that to enable bridge repair works to be carried out (“the Works”), Cumberland Council intends to make an Order the effect of which is to prohibit any vehicle from proceeding along the lengths of road specified in the attached Schedule.

Suitable diversion routes will be indicated on site by the display of relevant traffic signs as and when the temporary closures are in force. A way for pedestrians and dismounted cyclists will be maintained at all times.

The Order will come into operation on 6 July 2026 and may continue in force for a maximum duration of eighteen months. However, please note that it is anticipated that the restrictions will only be required for as stated in the schedule and only as and when the relevant traffic signs are displayed.

SCHEDULE

EXTENT OF RESTRICTIONS AND ALTERNATIVE ROUTES

1. U2199 Near High Lorton – From 6 July 2026 for approx. 5 days (TTROC/18535)

From its junction with B5292, extending in a north westerly direction for approx. 680m.

Alternative Route: via the unrestricted section of the U2199, U2207 and B5292.

2. C2058 Stair, Portinscale – From 6 July 2026 for approx. 5 days (TTROC/18575)

From a point approx. 130m south west of its junction with U2224, extending in a south westerly direction for approx. 70m.

Alternative Route: via the unrestricted sections of the C2058, C2057 Portinscale and the A66, Braithwaite.

3. C2001 Gilcrux – From 13 July 2026 for approx. 19 days (TTROC/18935)

From a point approx. 300m south east of its junction with C2023, extending in a south easterly direction for approx. 580m.

Alternative Route: via the unrestricted sections of the C2001, B5301, A596 Aspatria to Prospect and the C2023.

4. C2023 Ellenhall Bridge, Oughterside – From 5 August 2026 for approx. 2 days (TTROC/19003)

From its junction with C2024, extending in an overall southerly direction for approx. 50m.

Alternative Route: via the unrestricted section of the C2023, C2001 Gilcrux, C2003, A596 Crosby Villa and C2024.

5. U2138 Blaithwaite Bridge, near Waverton – From 10 August 2026 for approx. 2 days (TTROC/19013)

From a point approx. 90m east of its junction with U2139, extending in an overall easterly direction for approx. 180m.

Alternative Route: via the unrestricted sections of the U2138, C2050, A596 Waverton and U2139.

6. U2093, Bridekirk – From 1 September 2026 for approx. 18 days (TTROC/18965)

From its junction with C2003, extending in a south easterly direction for approx. 1.6km.

Alternative Route: via the unrestricted section of the U2093, C2038 Craggs Road and C2003.

Intends 11 June 2026.
