What is happening?

BOROUGH COUNCIL OF GATESHEAD (MARLEY HILL, WHICKHAM - FOOTPATH CLOSURES - WHICKHAM 151, 153, 154 AND 155) TEMPORARY TRAFFIC REGULATION ORDER 2026

Notice is hereby given that on the 10 June 2026 the Borough Council of Gateshead made an Order under section 14(1) and following a notice under S.14(2) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 the effect of which will be to temporarily prohibit pedestrians from the footpaths as set out in the Schedule below.

The Order is required to allow for investigation works being carried out on potentially contaminated land. The Order will come into force on the 13 June 2026. The maximum duration of the Order will be 6 months. All pedestrian traffic (pedestrians associated with the investigative works are exempt), will be prohibited from the footpaths as set out below until the works are completed or at such times and to such extent as may from time to time be indicated by the display of traffic signs. During the prohibition, there will be a signed alternative route in place.
