BOROUGH OF ROCHDALE

(MAINWAY, MIDDLETON)
(TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF VEHICLES AND TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF RIGHT AND LEFT TURN) ORDER 2026

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Rochdale Borough Council intend, in not less than seven days, to make an Order, the effect of which will be to temporarily;

i. Prohibit vehicles from proceeding along Mainway (southerly carriageway) from its junction with Kirkway for a distance of 50 metres in a westerly direction,

ii. Prohibit vehicles from undertaking a left turn manoeuvre from Kirkway onto Mainway (southerly carriageway),

iii. Prohibit vehicles from undertaking a right turn manoeuvre from Kirkway onto Mainway (southerly carriageway).

The alternative route for vehicles wishing to travel along Mainway in a westerly direction when Prohibition is in place is via Kirkway, Townley Street, Oldham Road, Manchester New Road and Mainway.

The Order is required to facilitate works to reset a frame and cover chamber within the carriageway.

The Order will be operative from 08.00 hours until 11.00 hours on 5th July 2026.
