UNDER SECTION 14/1 OF THE ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984
WEST BERKSHIRE DISTRICT COUNCIL (THE COUNCIL) INTENDS TO MAKE ORDERS AS FOLLOWING
(SPEEN LANE, NEWBURY)
(TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) ORDER 2026
The Council has made an Order the effect of which will be to prohibit any vehicle from proceeding in any direction over Speen Lane in Newbury between its junction with Speen Lodge Court and its junction with Pound Lane.
The alternative route for all vehicles affected by the Order is via Speen Lane, A4 Bath Road, Old Bath Road, Speen Lane and vice versa.
The purpose of this Order is to enable works to take place on or near the highway, namely for Openreach to access joint box for cabling works.
The proposed Order will come into effect on 8th June 2026.
It is envisaged that the closure will be in place between 09:30 and 15:30 on 8th June 2026.
(NEWBURY ROAD, EASTBURY HILLSIDE, EAST GARSTON,
NEWBURY ROAD, EAST GARSTON)
(TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) ORDER 2026
The Council has made an Order the effect of which will be to prohibit any vehicle from proceeding in any direction over Newbury Road, Eastbury between its junction with Long Hedge to Hillside, Hillside, East Garston between its junction with Rogers Lane and its junction with Newbury Road and Newbury Road, East Garston between its junction with Hillside and Front Street.
The closures will take place in sections; closure points will be advertised on site at the time of each closure section.
The alternative route for all vehicles affected by the Order is via A338 Newbury Road, A338 Hungerford Hill, B4000 Ermin Street, B4000 High Street and Newbury Street and vice versa.
The purpose of this Order is to enable works to take place on or near the highway, namely for The Clancy Group to carryout water mains replacement works including service relays and connections on behalf of Thames water and any additional collaborative utility works.
The proposed Order will come into effect on 8th June 2026.
It is envisaged that the closure will be in place between 8th June 2006 to 26th February 2027.
(PROSPECT ROAD, HUNGERFORD)
(TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) ORDER 2026
The Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make an order the effect of which will be to prohibit any vehicle from proceeding in any direction over Prospect Road in Hungerford between its junction with Honeyfields and its junction with Atherton Road.
The alternative route for all vehicles affected by the Order is via Honeyfields, Church Way, Atherton Road and vice versa.
The purpose of this Order is to enable works to take place on or near the highway, namely for Thames Water to carry out disconnection works.
The proposed Order will come into effect on 23rd June 2026.
It is envisaged that the closure will be in place between 23rd and 25th June 2026.
Unless stated otherwise the above orders shall remain in force for a period of eighteen months, or until the works are complete, whichever is the soonest, they will not take effect until approved traffic signs have been erected. Final details of the closure can be viewed on One.Network
