(TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF THROUGH TRAFFIC) ORDER 2026
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Lancashire County Council intends to make an Order under Section 14(1) (a) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, the effect of which will be to temporarily prohibit traffic on the roads set out in this Order.
1. No person shall cause any motor vehicle to proceed over the following lengths of highway in the Borough of Hyndburn;
i. New Lane, Oswaldtwistle from its junction with Grove Street to its junction with Duke Street from Monday 22nd June to Monday 29th June 2026.
ii. New Lane Oswaldtwistle from its junction with Stanley Street to its junction with Union Road form Monday 29th June to Monday 6th July 2026.
iii. Brookside Lane, Oswaldtwistle from its junction with Union Road to its junction with Brookside Street from Monday 6th July to Monday 13th July 2026.
iv. Commercial Street, Oswaldtwistle from its junction with Union Road to outside number 32 Commercial Street and number 35 Victoria Street from Monday 13th July to Wednesday 12th August 2026.
2. Nothing in this Order shall apply to persons engaged in the carrying out of the works.
3. The Order will be in force from 22nd June 2026 until 12th August 2026 or until completion of the works within this period. Access for emergency services will be maintained whenever and wherever possible. The prohibitions will only be operative when indicated on site by the presence of the appropriate traffic signs in accordance with The Traffic Signs Regulations and General Directions 2016.
4. The nature of the work means there will be no access.
5. An alternative route for vehicular traffic affected by the closures will be:
Closure 1: Diversion 1: Stanhill Lane- Stanhill Road – Haslingden Old Road
Diversion 2: Trinity Street – Stanhill Lane
Closure 2:
Diversion:1 Stanhill Lane – Stanhill Road – Haslingden Old Road
Diversion 2: Trinity Street – Stanhill Lane.
Closure 3: Diversion via Union Street.
Closure 4: Diversion via Union Road – Oak Street and vice versa.
The temporary prohibition is necessary to allow major gas replacement works carried out by Network Plus on behalf of Cadent Gas.
