What is happening?

CUMBERLAND COUNCIL

HIGHWAYS ACT 1980 – SECTIONS 90A - F

Notice is hereby given that Cumberland Council proposes to install road humps at locations on Croadalla Avenue, U4262 Whitegate, Egremont and St. Bridget’s Lane, Egremont, as specified in the Schedule below.

A plan showing the locations of the proposed road humps may be viewed on the Council’s website using the following link: - https://www.cumberland.gov.uk/parking-roads-and-transport/streets-roads-and-pavements/road-maintenance-closures-and-improvements/traffic-regulation-orders-tros and may otherwise be obtained by emailing mark.hakin@cumberland.gov.uk.

If you wish to object to, or make representations regarding the above proposals, you should write to the undersigned or emailing mark.hakin@cumberland.gov.uk not later than 1st July 2026.

SCHEDULE

Road humps are proposed to be installed at the following locations on Croadalla Avenue, Whitegate, U4262 Whitegate, Egremont and St. Bridget’s Lane, Egremont:-

The C4007, Croadalla Avenue, Egremont, at a point approximately 34m north of its junction with Whitegate (o/s No. 28 Croadalla Avenue)

The dimensions will be as follows:-

Height - 75mm Width - 7600mm Length - 3750mm

The U4262, Whitegate, Egremont, at a point approximately 5m east of its junction with Croadalla Avenue.

The dimensions will be as follows:-

Height - 75mm Width - 5000mm Length - 3750mm

The U4262, St. Bridget’s Lane, Egremont, at a point approximately 200m east of its junction with Croadalla Avenue (o/s No. 5 Meadow View, St. Bridget’s Lane)

The dimensions will be as follows:-

Height - 75mm Width - 7100mm Length - 3750mm

Additional information:

All of the humps will be constructed of bituminous macadam.

An existing speed hump is located at the entrance to Spencer Close, Egremont. This is to remain.

Off-highway humps are proposed at the entrance to the car park opposite Goldsmiths Road and also at the entrance to Orgill Primary School.
