What is happening?
CUMBERLAND COUNCIL (U4372 MEADOW ROAD, WHITEHAVEN (TEMPORARY TRAFFIC REGULATION) ORDER 2026
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that to enable utility works to be carried out (“the Works”), Cumberland Council intends to make an Order the effect of which is to prohibit any vehicle from proceeding along that section of the U4372 Meadow Road, Whitehaven from its junction with Skiddaw Road, extending in a north westerly direction for approx. 110m.
A way for pedestrians and dismounted cyclists will be maintained at all times suitable alternative routes for vehicles will be signed and available as follows:
North Bound Vehicles: via the unrestricted sections of Meadow Road, Meadow View, B5345 New Town, Swingpump Lane, Strand Street, Duke Street, Scotch Street, Flat Walks, Inkerman Terrace and the A595.
South Bound Vehicles: via the unrestricted section of Meadow Road, A595, Inkerman Terrace, Flat Walks, Irish Street, New Town and Meadow View.

The Order will come into operation on 7 July 2026 and may continue in force for a maximum duration of eighteen months. However, please note that it is anticipated that the restriction will only be required for 9 weeks, and only as and when the appropriate traffic signs are displayed.
