Whinbank Road - Temporary Road Closure for Carriageway Resurfacing Works

The Council proposes to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from proceeding on the following length of road.
A 710 metre length of Whinbank Road extending south from Ridgeway to the access to Roman Ltd, Aycliffe Ind Estate to enable carriageway resurfacing works to be undertaken. An alternative route will be available to vehicular traffic from the northern side of the closure, from Whinbank Road north onto Horndale Avenue, then west and north west, turning south west onto School Aycliffe Lane, south and east on Preston Road to the junction with Whinbank Road / Spring Road leading to the southern side of the closure, and vice versa. The maximum duration of the Order is 18 months. The proposed works are to commence on Tuesday 23/6/2026 and the duration of the works are anticipated to be 8 nights (between 7pm-6am per night). On occasions, alternative dates for the closure may be necessary and these will be signed on site accordingly.
