Darlington - Temporary Road Closures & Clearway Restrictions for Asphalt Rejuvenation Works

(TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF TRAFFIC AND CLEARWAY) ORDER 2026 CARMEL ROAD NORTH AND WHINFIELD ROAD, DARLINGTON
Darlington Borough Council intend, not less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make an Order under the provisions of Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act, 1984, as amended, the effect of which will be to temporarily introduce:
- No stopping at any time (clearway); and
- the prohibition of the driving of vehicles on:
CARMEL ROAD NORTH
From the north side of Highbury Road junction southwards to the north side of Abbey Road junction
It is anticipated that it will be effective between 0730hours and 1930hours on 12th July. An alternative route will be signed via Woodland Road, St Augustine’s Way, St Cuthbert’s Way, Victoria Road, Grange Road, Carmel Road South and vice versa.
WHINFIELD ROAD
From the east side of Thompson Street East junction eastwards to the west side of Winbush Way junction
It is anticipated that it will be effective between 0730hours and 1930hours on 12th July. An alternative route will be signed via Salters Lane North, North Road, High Northgate, Northgate, St Cuthbert’s Way, Freeman’s Place, Haughton Road, Haughton Green, Stockton Road and vice versa.
The Order is necessary to allow asphalt rejuvenation works.
The maximum duration of the temporary restrictions under this Order is 18 months commencing from 12th July 2026.
