What is happening?
PART-TIME SPEED LIMIT –
SCHOOLS
The Department for Infrastructure (DfI) has made a Statutory Rule entitled
“The Schools (Part-Time 20mph Speed Limit) (Amendment No. 3) Order
(Northern Ireland) 2026” (S.R. 2026 No. 91), which comes into operation on
10th June 2026.
The Rule will apply part-time 20mph speed limits at:-
• Tildarg Road, Ballyclare adjacent to Tildarg Primary School;
• Cullybackey Road and Upper Princes Street, Ballymena adjacent to
St. Colmcille’s Primary School;
• Valley Road, Ballymena adjacent to Carnaghts Primary School;
• Hazelbank Road and Kilnacolpagh Road, Broughshane adjacent to
Hazelbank Primary School;
• Feigh Road and Whitepark Road, Bushmills adjacent to Dunseverick
Primary School;
• Glenann Road, Cushendall adjacent to Glenann Primary School;
• Boleran Road and Mayboy Road, Garvagh adjacent to St. Columba’s
Primary School;
• Vale Road, Greysteel adjacent to Faughanvale Primary School;
• Jordanstown Road and Monkstown Road, Newtownabbey adjacent
to Abbey Community College;
• Oakfield Park, Oakfield Park Close and Oakfield Park Drive,
Newtownabbey adjacent to Jordanstown School;
• Ballymena Road, Portglenone adjacent to St. Mary’s Primary School;
and
• Staffordstown Road, Randalstown adjacent to Creggan Primary
School.

PARKING PLACES – DISABLED
PERSONS’ VEHICLES
The Department for Infrastructure (DfI) proposes to make an Order entitled
The Parking Places (Disabled Persons’ Vehicles) (Amendment No. 4) Order
(Northern Ireland) 2026.
The Order will create parking places with unlimited waiting in Antrim: Mull
Road in a parking area in front of No. 25; Aughnacloy: Moore Street in front of
No. 84; Ballyclare: Bellevue Place in front of No. 20; Ballymena: Ballymoney
Road in a lay-by in front of No.18 (Old Bank Surgery); Derry/Londonderry:
Bayview Terrace on Asylum Road in front of No. 3 (HURTNI) and Foyle Park
in a parking area to the rear of No. 38; Larne: Craigstown Meadow in front of
No. 31; Newtownabbey: Avonlea Gardens in front of No. 27, Bryson Court in
a parking area to the side of No. 7, Carnvue Court in a parking area in front of
No. 4, Devenish Drive to the side of No. 109 Tynan Drive, Inniscarn Drive in
front of No. 48 and Movilla Park in a parking area in front of No. 3.
The Order will also create a parking place with waiting limited to 3 hours on
Monday to Saturday between 8.00 a.m. and 6.30 p.m. with no return to the
parking place for 1 hour in Derry/Londonderry: Duke Street in front of No. 96
(The Mortgage Shop/Warwick Interiors).
All parking places are for the use of disabled persons’ vehicles only.
The Order will also substitute a new description for a length of road in
Ballymena: Ballymoney Road to create a parking place with unlimited waiting
in a lay-by in front of No. 18.
The Order will also remove parking places with unlimited waiting in Derry/
Londonderry: Duke Street in front of No. 96 and Northland Avenue in front of
Nos. 7, 15 and 18 (3 bays).

EXPERIMENTAL TRAFFIC
CONTROL SCHEME – BUS LANES
– NORTHERN ARTERIAL
CORRIDORS BELFAST
The Department for Infrastructure (DfI) proposes to make the Experimental
Traffic Control Scheme - Bus Lanes (Northern Arterial Corridors, Belfast)
2026 for a period of 6 months.
The scheme will amend the operational times of-
• inbound bus lanes on certain northern arterial routes in Belfast on Antrim
Road (north of Downview Avenue to south of Pim Street); Shore Road
(north of Shore Crescent to opposite Low Wood Park); York Road (south
of North Derby Street to opposite Limestone Road); York Street (south of
Limestone Road to north of Whitla Street) from existing times of 7.30 a.m.
to 9.30 a.m. to amended times of 7.30 a.m. to 9.30 a.m. and 3.30 p.m. to
6.30 p.m. Crumlin Road (Brompton Park to west of Hillview Road) from
existing times of 7.30 a.m. to 9.30 a.m. to amended times of 7.00 a.m. to
9.30 a.m. and 3.30.p.m. to 6.30.p.m. and Crumlin Road (east of Hillview
Road to Oldpark Road) from existing times of 7.00 a.m. to 9.30 a.m. to
amended times of 7.00 a.m. to 9.30 a.m. and 3.30 p.m. to 6.30 p.m.
• outbound bus lanes on certain northern arterial routes in Belfast on
Antrim Road (Allworthy Avenue to north of Downview Park); York Street
(south of St. Paul’s Street to Limestone Road); York Road (north of
Mountcollyer Avenue to south of Alexandra Park Avenue) York Road and
Shore Road (north of Grove Place to south of Gray’s Lane) from existing
times of 7.30 a.m. to 9.30 a.m. to amended times of 7.30 a.m. to 9.30 a.m.
and 3.30 p.m. to 6.30 p.m.
Vehicles are excepted from the restrictions in certain circumstances.
