THE METROPOLITAN BOROUGH COUNCIL OF STOCKPORT (GREAT PORTWOOD STREET, PORTWOOD) (TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) NOTICE 2026
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Metropolitan Borough Council of Stockport proposes to make an Order not less than 7 days from the date of this Notice under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended by the Road Traffic (Temporary Restrictions) Act 1991, the effect of which will be to introduce a Temporary Prohibition of Driving at Great Portwood Street, Portwood, from Peter Street to approximately 120 metres east of Warren Street, whilst traffic signs to that effect are in place on or near the said road. This Order is necessary to allow highway improvement works to take place. It is estimated these works will last 1 week. A diversion will be provided via Portwood Roundabout, Tiviot Way, Lancashire Hill Roundabout, Lancashire Hill, Knightsbridge, and vice versa. This Notice does not apply to pedestrians. This Order is to come into operation on 27 July 2026 and will have effect for eighteen months, provided that if all necessary works are completed within a shorter period this Order shall cease to have effect at the end of that shorter period.
