Croydon - Multiple Temporary Road Closures, Parking Restrictions Due To Various Works & Events

What is happening?

LONDON BOROUGH OF CROYDON COUNCIL

Road Traffic Regulation Act, 1984, Section 14 - As Amended And The Road Traffic (Temporary Restrictions) Act 1991 - Farm Lane & Green Lane, Purley - Temporary Restriction Of Vehicular Traffic

1. Croydon Council HEREBY GIVES NOTICE that to facilitate gas main connection and renewal works on behalf of SGN, they intend to make an Order the effect of which would be to temporarily restrict vehicular traffic in Farm Lane and Green Lane, Purley.

2. Whilst the said works are taking place:
a) The entire length of Green Lane will be closed from 22 June to 20 July 2026.
b) Farm Lane will be closed from 22 June until 10 July 2026, from the common boundary of Cornerways and Wyndhams, Farm Lane, to the common boundary of No. 28 Green Lane with No. 23 Farm Lane.

3. During the closures, traffic will be diverted as detailed below.
- Green Lane closure – via Farm Lane and Woodcote Road, or via Farm Lane, Foxley Lane and Woodcote Road.
- Farm Lane closure – via The Ridge, Woodcote Drive and Foxley Lane.

4. The Order will come into operation on 22 June 2026, and it is anticipated that the work will be completed as detailed above. However, the Order will remain in force for 18 months to be reintroduced should further work be required.

5. The restrictions shall not apply in respect of:
(a) A vehicle involved in the said work.
(b) A vehicle being used for fire brigade, ambulance, or police purposes, or the purposes of a statutory undertaker in an emergency, such as the loss of supplies of gas, electricity or water to premises in the area, which necessitates the bringing of vehicles into a section of road to which the order applies.
(c) Anything done with the permission of a police constable in uniform or a Civil Enforcement Officer.

6. The restrictions will only apply during such times and to such an extent as shall from time to time be indicated by traffic signs.

Road Traffic Regulation Act, 1984, Section 14 As Amended - The Road Traffic (Temporary Restrictions) Act 1991 And All Other Enabling Powers - Kingsdown Avenue, South Croydon - Temporary Restriction Of Vehicular Traffic

1. Croydon Council HEREBY GIVE NOTICE that to facilitate new gas connection works by SGN, they intend to make an Order, the effect of which would be to temporarily restrict vehicular traffic movements in Kingsdown Avenue, South Croydon.

2. Whilst the said works are taking place Kingsdown Avenue will be closed from the common boundary of Nos. 15 and 17 to the common boundary of Nos. 23 and 25 Kingsdown Avenue.

3. During the closure the alternative route for traffic will be via Blenheim Park Road, St Augustine’s Avenue, A235 Brighton Road and vice versa.

4. The Order will come into operation on 22 June 2026, and it is anticipated that the works will be completed on 26 June 2026. However, the Order will remain in force for 18 months to be reintroduced should further work be required.

5. The restriction shall not apply in respect of:
(a) any vehicle involved in carrying out the said works.

Road Traffic Regulation Act, 1984, Section 14 As Amended - The Road Traffic (Temporary Restrictions) Act 1991 And All Other Enabling Powers - Vincent Road & Chipstead Valley Road, Coulsdon - Temporary Prohibition Of Parking

1. Croydon Council HEREBY GIVE NOTICE that to facilitate telecoms’ civils works and the replacement of a telephone pole on behalf of O2, they intend to make an Order the effect of which would be to temporarily prohibit parking on Vincent Road and Chipstead Valley Road, Coulsdon.

2. During the works parking will be suspended and waiting and loading restrictions prohibiting parking and loading will apply at any time in the following locations.
a) Vincent Road – on both sides of the road between its junction with Chipstead Valley Road and the common boundaries of Nos. 8 and 10 and Nos. 7 and 9 Vincent Road.
b) Chipstead Valley Road – outside Nos. 294 to 306 Chipstead Valley Road.

3. The Order will come into operation on 22 June 2026, and it is anticipated that the work will be completed on 26 June 2026. However, the Order will remain in force for 18 months to be reintroduced should further work be required. The prohibitions will only apply during such times and to such extent as shall from time to time be indicated by traffic signs.

ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984, SECTION 16A AS AMENDED - TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF TRAFFIC ORDER - THE BIG LUNCH 2026

1. Croydon Council HEREBY GIVE NOTICE that to facilitate the staging of the ‘Big Lunch’ celebrations they have made a Traffic Order under Section 16A of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended.

2. The general effect of the Order is to facilitate the holding of street parties on various borough roads to allow residents to celebrate ‘The Big Lunch’.

3. The streets which will be temporarily closed to vehicular traffic are listed in Schedule 1 (for parties to be held on 06 June 2026) and Schedule 2 (for parties to be held on 07 June 2026) along with the start and finish times of each closure.

4. The provisions of the Order will not prevent access being maintained for pedestrians to any premises situated on or adjacent to any road to which the Order relates, or to any other premises accessible from, and only from, such a road. Existing parking places or one-way workings within those streets or lengths of streets specified in the Schedules to this Notice will be suspended.

5. The provisions of the Order will only apply during such times as indicated by traffic signs.

6. Nothing in the Order shall apply:
a) to anything done with the permission or at the direction of a police constable in uniform or Civil Enforcement Officer.
