Croydon - Multiple Temporary Road Closures Due To Various Works

What is happening?

LONDON BOROUGH OF CROYDON COUNCIL

Road Traffic Regulation Act, 1984, Section 14 As Amended And The Road Traffic (Temporary Restrictions) Act 1991 - Purley Knoll, Purley - Temporary Restriction Of Traffic

1. Croydon Council HEREBY GIVES NOTICE that to facilitate gas main replacement works on behalf of SGN, they have made an Order to the effect of which would be to temporarily restrict vehicular traffic in Purley Knoll, Purley.

2. Whilst the said works are taking place the entire length of Purley Knoll will be closed.

3. During the closure, traffic will be diverted via Woodcote Valley Road, Hill Road, Purley Rise, and Brighton Road, or via Brighton Road, Banstead Road, A2022, and Woodcote Valley Road.

4. The Order will come into operation on 08 June 2026, and it is anticipated that the work will be completed by 03 July 2026. However, the Order will remain in force for 18 months to be reintroduced should further work be required.

5. The restriction shall not apply in respect of:
(a) A vehicle involved in the said work.
(b) A vehicle being used for fire brigade, ambulance, or police purposes, or the purposes of a statutory undertaker in an emergency, such as the loss of supplies of gas, electricity or water to premises in the area, which necessitates the bringing of vehicles into a section of road to which the order applies.
(c) Anything done with the permission of a police constable in uniform or a Civil Enforcement Officer.

6. The restriction will only apply during such times and to such an extent as shall from time to time be indicated by traffic signs.

1. Croydon Council HEREBY GIVE NOTICE that to facilitate gas main replacement work, they have made an Order the effect of which would be to temporarily prohibit traffic movements on Purley Rise, Purley.

2. Whilst the said work is taking place closures will apply on the following sections of road.

Road to be closed

Purley Rise

Between its north-eastern junction with Brighton Road (adjacent to No. 36 Brighton Road) and the north-western boundary of No. 48 Purley Rise.

08 June to 15 June 2026

Purley Rise

Between its south-western junction with Brighton Road (adjacent to No. 74 Brighton Road) and its junction with Hill Road.

15 June to 22 June 2026

Purley Rise

Between its junction with Hill Road and No. 3 Purley Rise

22 June to 03 July 2026

3. During the works the diversion route for vehicular traffic will be via Hill Road, Woodcote Valley Road, Purley Knoll, Brighton Road and vice versa.

The Order will come into operation on 08 June 2026, and it is anticipated that the works will be completed as detailed above. However, the Order will remain in force for 18 months to be reintroduced should further work be required. The prohibitions will only apply during such times and to such extent as shall from time to time be indicated by traffic signs.

Road Traffic Regulation Act, 1984, Section 14 As Amended - The Road Traffic (Temporary Restrictions) Act 1991 And All Other Enabling Powers - Upper Selsdon Road, South Croydon - Temporary Prohibition Of Traffic

1. Croydon Council HEREBY GIVE NOTICE that to facilitate telecoms works on behalf of BT Openreach, they have made an Order the effect of which would be to temporarily prohibit traffic movements in Upper Selsdon Road, South Croydon.

2. During the work, the road will be closed to vehicular traffic outside Nos. 113 to 141 Upper Selsdon Road.

3. Whilst the closure remains in force the alternative route for traffic will be via B275, A2022, B269, Mayfield Road, Carlton Road, B275 and reversed.

4. The Order will come into operation on 04 June 2026, and it is anticipated that the work will be completed in one day. However, the Order will remain in force for 18 months to be reintroduced should further work be required. The prohibition will only apply during such times and to such extent as shall from time to time be indicated by traffic signs.

5. The restriction shall not apply in respect of:
(a) any vehicle involved in conducting the said work.
(b) a vehicle attending for fire brigade, ambulance, or police purposes, or the purposes of a statutory undertaker in an emergency, such as the loss of supplies of gas, electricity, or water to premises in the area, which necessitates the bringing of vehicles into a section of road to which the order applies.
(c) anything done with the permission of a police constable in uniform or a Civil Enforcement Officer.

Road Traffic Regulation Act, 1984, Section 14 As Amended And The Road Traffic (Temporary Restrictions) Act 1991 - Chelsham Road, South Croydon - Temporary Restriction Of Traffic

1. Croydon Council HEREBY GIVES NOTICE that to facilitate water main replacement works on behalf of Thames Water, they intend to make an Order the effect of which would be to temporarily restrict traffic in Chelsham Road, South Croydon.

2. Whilst the said works are taking place, Chelsham Road will be closed between the common boundaries of Nos. 63 and 65 and Nos. 71 and 73 Chelsham Road.

3. Whilst the closure is in force, the alternative route for traffic will be as detailed below.
- Via Crunden Road, Brighton Road and Mansfield Road.

4. The Order will come into operation on 22 June 2026, and it is anticipated that the works will be completed on 26 June 2026. However, the Order will remain in force for 18 months to be reintroduced should further work be required.

5. The restriction shall not apply in respect of:
(a) a vehicle being used for fire brigade, ambulance, or police purposes, or the purposes of a statutory undertaker in an emergency, such as the loss of supplies of gas, electricity or water to premises in the area, which necessitates the bringing of vehicles into a section of road to which the order applies.
(b) anything done with the permission of a police constable in uniform or a Civil Enforcement Officer.
(c) any vehicle involved in carrying out the specified works.

Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, Section 14 As Amended, The Road Traffic (Temporary Restrictions) Act 1991 And All Other Enabling Powers - Dixon Road, South Norwood - Temporary Prohibition Of Vehicular Traffic

1. Croydon Council HEREBY GIVE NOTICE that to facilitate telecommunications works, they intend to make an Order the effect of which will be to temporarily restrict traffic in Dixon Road, South Norwood.

2. Whilst the said works are taking place Dixon Road will be closed at its junction with Whitehorse Lane.

3. During the closure the diversion routes for vehicular traffic will be as detailed below.
- Via Whitehorse Lane, Nugent Road, Elm Park Road and vice versa.
- Via Whitehorse Lane, Whitworth Road, Oliver Avenue and Dixon Road.

4. The Order will come into operation on 22 June 2026, and it is anticipated that the work will be completed within three days. However, the Order will remain in force for a maximum duration of 18 months to be reintroduced if further work is required.

5. The restriction shall not apply in respect of:
(a) a vehicle being used for fire brigade, ambulance, or police purposes, or the purposes of a statutory undertaker in an emergency, such as the loss of supplies of gas, electricity or water to premises in the area, which necessitates the bringing of vehicles into a section of road to which the order applies.
(b) anything done with the permission of a police constable in uniform or a Civil Enforcement Officer.
(c) a vehicle involved in conducting the said work.
