(TEMPORARY NO WAITING) ORDER 2026

The Scottish Borders Council (Scott Crescent, Galashiels) (Temporary No Waiting) Order 2026 has been made under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended. The Order, which has a maximum duration of 18 months, will come into force on 12 June 2026 and is expected to remain in effect for a period of one day between the hours of 07:30 and 14:00. The Order is required in the interests of public safety due to increased traffic attending the Heriot-Watt University Graduation Ceremony.

When the Order comes into effect, in the interests of public safety, no person shall permit any vehicle to wait or to be parked along the parking area at St Paul’s Church on Scott Crescent, Galashiels.

Pedestrian access will be maintained.

(VARIOUS ROADS - GALASHIELS)

(TEMPORARY TRAFFIC REGULATION) ORDER 2026

The Scottish Borders Council (Various Roads - Galashiels) (Temporary Traffic Regulation) Order 2026 has been made under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended. The Order, which has a maximum duration of 18 months, will come into force on 7 June 2026 and is expected to remain in effect for a period of one day between the hours of 06:00 and 23:59, as detailed at Article 3 to this Order. The Order is required in the interests of public safety due to increased traffic attending the Gala Festival of Football Event.

When the Order comes into effect, in the interests of public safety no person shall (i) drive or cause or permit to be driven any vehicle; and (ii) permit any vehicle to wait or to be parked on those lengths of road and car parks on the dates and at the times detailed in the Schedule to this Order.

One Way Orders will be enacted on the following roads between the hours of 08:00 and 22:00:

(i)    Galafoot Road in a southbound direction. No person shall drive or cause or permit to be driven any vehicle in a northbound direction; and

(ii)   Tweed Road from Netherdale Brae to Winston Road in an eastbound direction. No person shall drive or cause or permit to be driven any vehicle in a westbound direction; and

(iii)  Winston Road from Tweed Road to Winston Place in a northbound direction. No person shall drive or cause or permit to be driven any vehicle in a southbound direction. The alternative route for southbound traffic is via Winston Road, Melrose Road, A7 and Tweed Road to the point of closure.

(C83 OXTON)

(TEMPORARY CLOSING) ORDER 2026

The Scottish Borders Council (C83 Oxton) (Temporary Closing) Order 2026 has been made under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended. The Order, which has a maximum duration of 18 months, will come into force on 9 June 2026 and is expected to remain in effect for a period of one day between the hours of 08:00 and 17:00. The Order is required for BT works.

When the Order comes into effect no person shall drive or cause or permit to be driven any vehicle along the C83 at Oxton. The alternative route for northbound traffic is via the C83, A68, C84, Station Road and C83 to the point of closure, for southbound traffic the reverse of the foregoing.

THE ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984

NO WAITING, YARROW TERRACE, SELKIRK)

(TRAFFIC REGULATION) ORDER 2026

The Scottish Borders Council, on 26 May 2026 in exercise of the powers conferred on them by Sections 1 and 2 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 and Part IV of Schedule 9 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 and by of all other enabling powers and after consultation with the Chief Officer of Police in accordance with Part III of Schedule 9 to said Act and having complied with the statutory requirements of The Local Authorities’ Traffic Orders (Procedure) (Scotland) Regulations 1999, as amended made the above Order. The Order will come into operation on 8 June 2026.

The effect of the Order is to make permanent The Scottish Borders Council (Experimental No Waiting, Yarrow Terrace, Selkirk) (Traffic Regulation) Order 2025 and will prohibit waiting at any time in a length of Yarrow Terrace in Selkirk in the interests of public and road safety and traffic management.

A copy of the permanent Order as made, together with a map showing said length of road can be inspected Traffic and Road Safety, Network, Environment and Infrastructure, The Scottish Borders Council, Newtown St Boswells, Melrose, from Mondays to Thursdays between 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. and also at the Council’s Contact Centre, Philiphaugh Community Centre, Selkirk TD7 5LT during its current opening hours which are 10am to 12 Noon every second and fourth Thursday of each month.

Any person wishing to question the validity of the Order or of any of its provisions on the grounds that it is not within the powers of the relevant enabling Act or that a requirement of any such enabling Act or of any relevant regulations made thereunder has not been complied with may, within 6 weeks from 8 June 2026 make application for the purpose to the Court of Session.
