What is happening?
CITY OF BRISTOL
HERKOMER CLOSE AREA, LOCKLEAZE WARD, PROHIBITION OF WAITING AND SPEED LIMIT – TRAFFIC ORDERS
The City Council of Bristol hereby gives NOTICE it proposes to make the following traffic orders:-
A. Ref: CAE/NMT/P-1340A – City Council of Bristol (Crome Road, Herkomer Close and Thornycroft Close, Lockleaze Ward, City of Bristol) (Prohibition of Waiting) Order 202-, the effect of which would be to introduce prohibition of waiting at any time for vehicles (with standard exemptions) in:-
(a) lengths of Crome Road, east side, and Thornycroft Close, south side, where they junction with Herkomer Close; and
(b) lengths of Herkomer Close, and
B. Ref: CAE/NMT/P-1340B – City Council of Bristol (Inner North – Bishopston & Ashley Down, Clifton Down, Horfield, Lockleaze, Redland, Southmead, Stoke Bishop and Westbury-on-Trym & Henleaze Wards, City of Bristol) (De-Restriction) (20 Mph Speed Limit) (40 Mph Speed Limit) (50 Mph Speed Limit) Order 202-, the effect of which would be:-
(a) to revise the 20 mph speed limit so as to apply to the entire length of the modified layout of Herkomer Close – the City Council of Bristol (Various Roads – Henleaze, Horfield, Kingsweston, Lockleaze, Southmead, Stoke Bishop and Westbury-on-Trym Wards, City of Bristol) (De-Restriction) (20 Mph Speed Limit) (40 Mph Speed Limit) (50 Mph Speed Limit) Order 2014 would be revoked and all existing provisions brought forward unamended into the proposed order except for Herkomer Close which would be revised, as above; and
(b) to revoke the City Council of Bristol (Hawthorn Street, Lockleaze Ward, City of Bristol) (De-Restriction) (20 Mph Speed Limit) Order 2022 and the City Council of Bristol (St. Peters Way, Horfield Ward, City of Bristol) (De-Restriction) (20 Mph Speed Limit) Order 2024 and bring their provisions forward unamended into the proposed order.

Further details of the proposals are contained in the draft orders, which together with plans, copy of the orders to be revoked and a Statement of the Council’s Reasons for proposing to make the orders may be inspected in digital format at the Citizen Service Point, 100 Temple Street, Bristol, BS1 6AG, between 10.00 a.m. and 4.00 p.m. on Monday to Friday. The draft orders, plans and a Statement of Reasons are also available to view on the City Council website at www.bristol.gov.uk/trafficorders.
How to object
Objections to the proposals, together with the grounds on which they are made must be sent in writing to TRO Comments at the undermentioned address or by e-mail to tro.comments@bristol.gov.uk quoting the relevant reference by 29th June 2026. Please include your name and address and note that all representations received may be considered in public by the City Council and that the substance of any representation together with the name and address of the person making it could become available for public inspection.
