(TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF TRAFFIC) ORDER 2026
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that National Highways Limited (Company No. 09346363) intends to make an Order on the M62 Motorway, in the Borough of Knowsley, in the County of Merseyside, to enable resurfacing and white lining works and all associated works to be carried out in safety by Knowsley Metropolitan Borough Council.
The Order will on the following sections of the M62 Motorway:
i. ban all traffic from the westbound carriageway, from the last point at which the exit slip road at J6 leaves the carriageway, to the first point the entry slip road at J5 joins the carriageway;
ii. ban all traffic from the M62 westbound to M57 northbound link road.
The prohibitions are expected to be in place overnight between 20:00 and 05:00 during a period starting on Monday 13 July 2026 and ending on Monday 20 July 2026.
However, work may start and continue between the same times on subsequent nights until completed. Diversion routes via alternative junctions of the M62 Motorway, and local roads will be well signed. The prohibitions will not apply to emergency services, special-forces vehicles, works or traffic officer vehicles.
The prohibitions will only apply during such times and to such extent as shall be indicated by traffic signs.
The Order comes into force on the 12 July 2026 and has a maximum duration of eighteen months.
