(TANTALLON, BIRTLEY) TEMPORARY TRAFFIC REGULATION ORDER 2026
Notice is hereby given that the Borough Council of Gateshead proposes to make an Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 the effect of which will be to temporarily prohibit vehicles from proceeding along Tantallon, Birtley from a point 60 metres north of its junction with Tantallon, extending in a northerly , them westerly direction for a distance of 84 metres. The Order is required to facilitate installation of sewer connection and manhole chamber. The Order will come into force on 29 June 2026. The maximum duration of the Order will be 18 months; however, the works are expected to be completed by 04 September 2026. The Order will only be in effect while Traffic Management signage is in place. During the works all vehicles (except vehicles associated with the works and emergency service vehicles on duty) will be prohibited from proceeding along the above road until the works are completed or at such times and to such extent as may from time to time be indicated by the display of traffic signs.
