What is happening?
(Footpath 39, Heybridge)
(Temporary Prohibition of Use) Order 2025
Notice is hereby given that the above Order made by Essex County Council, under s14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, has been continued in force with the consent of the Secretary of State for the Department for Transport until 30 September 2026.
Effect of the order: To temporarily close Footpath 39, Heybridge in the District of Maldon, from a point approximately 307 metres west of Wharf Road west to its junction with Osea Road.
The alternative route will be via Footpath 10, Footpath 11, Footpath 12, Footpath 13 and vice versa.
The Order came into effect on 10 December 2025 and is required for the safety of the public workforce for the refurbishment of Environmental Agency flood gates along the flood wall. This will be at various locations along the flood wall between Wharf Road and Osea Road.

(Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2026
Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.
Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of School Road, Little Totham in the District of Maldon, from its junction with Beckingham Street for a distance of approximately 50m in a north westerly direction.
The closure is scheduled to commence on 6th July 2026 for 1 day, or where stated on a valid permit (BC008WGIN7N5HPTSIB – Openreach Limited). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while pole testing works are undertaken by Openreach Limited.
An alternative route is available via School Road, The Street, Witham Road, Tolleshun D’Arcy Road, Beckingham Road, B1026, Little Totham Road, Bakers Green, Little Totham Road, School Road and vice versa.
The Order will come into effect on 11th June 2026 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.
Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Wash Lane, Goldhanger in the District of Maldon, from a point approximately 225m north west of its junction with Blind Lane for a distance of approximately 50m in a north westerly direction. Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council has made the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.
Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Crouchmans Farm Road, Ulting in the District of Maldon, from a point approximately 50m north of its junction with Church Road for a distance of approximately 100m, a northerly direction. Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council has made the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.
Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Hyde Lane, Danbury in the City of Chelmsford, from a point approximately 30m north west of its junction with Barley Mead for a distance of approximately 40m in a north westerly direction. The closure is scheduled to commence on 16th June 2026 for 2 days, or where stated on a valid permit (BC411001WGNP6D2R – Openreach Limited). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while installation of a new telegraph pole and associated cabling works are undertaken by Openreach Limited.

(Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2026
Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council has made the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.
Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Maypole Road, Great Totham in the District of Maldon, from a point approximately 350m north east of its junction with Captains Wood Road for a distance of approximately 400m in a north easterly direction. The closure is scheduled to commence on 22nd June 2026 for 1 day, or where stated on a valid permit (BC008PL73163005430032025 – Openreach Limited).
The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while pole testing works are undertaken by Openreach Limited.

(Temporary Prohibition of Traffic & Temporary Introduction of a Clearway) Order (No.4) 2026
Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council has made the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.
Effect of the order:
1. To temporarily close that length of road in the District of Maldon as specified in the schedule to this Order.
2. To introduce temporary ‘No Waiting, No Loading and No Stopping’ restriction will be introduced on both sides of carriageway on the above length of road for the duration of the closure to facilitate the works. Signs will be installed indicating where the No Waiting restriction will be in force.
The Essex County Council (Maldon District) (Prohibition of Waiting, Loading and Stopping) and (On Street Parking Places) Civil Enforcement Area) Consolidation Order 2019” will be temporarily amended to include the temporary ‘No Waiting, No Loading and No Stopping at Any Time’ restriction and suspend any existing parking and waiting restrictions on the above length of road only. All other restrictions and exemptions contained in the aforementioned Order and Amendments to that Order shall remain in force.
The works being undertaken will take place within an 18-month period from 28th May 2026; exact dates will be specified on one.network. The roads will be closed to facilitate each phase of works and then re-opened to the public. Access will be maintained for emergency services. Diversion routes will be signed at each location and residents will be informed of the dates of each phase via letter/leaflet drop and advanced warning signs on the roads.
