(TEMPORARY RESTRICTION AND PROHIBITION OF TRAFFIC) ORDER 2026
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that National Highways Limited (a) intends to make an Order on the A303 trunk road, near Amesbury in Wiltshire, because of the likelihood of danger to the public.

The effect of the Order is:
(a) to impose a 40 miles per hour temporary mandatory speed limit on the A303 trunk road near Amesbury from its junction with the A360 at Longbarrow Roundabout to its junction with the A345 at Countess Roundabout.

(c) to prohibit vehicles stopping on the verge adjacent to the A303 over the same length as described at (a) above.
These measures would be in the interests of road safety to ensure the safe, free flow of traffic during the Stonehenge Summer Solstice event.
The restrictions would not apply to emergency service, traffic officer or special forces vehicles.
The temporary mandatory speed restriction, layby closures and stopping prohibition would be clearly indicated by traffic signs throughout the period of danger. The Order would come into force on 19 June 2026 and have a maximum duration of eighteen months.
