NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that National Highways Limited intends to make an Order on the A1(M) Motorway, in North Yorkshire, to enable road marking renewal works to be carried out in safety.
The works are expected to start on Monday 29 June 2026 for 3 weeks, or until completed, and will take place between 8pm and 6am.
The effect of the Order will be to close, at times during the works, the A1(M):
(i) northbound carriageway from the exit slip road at Junction 53 (Scotch Corner) to the entry slip road at Junction 56 (Barton Junction), a distance of 3697 metres;
(ii) southbound carriageway from the exit slip road at Junction 56 to the entry slip road at Junction 53, a distance of 3659 metres;
(iii) northbound entry and southbound exit slip roads at Junction 53; and
(iv) northbound exit and southbound entry slip roads at Junction 56.
During the closures suitably signed alternative routes will be available at all times.
Traffic signs will indicate the extent of the prohibitions (which will not apply to emergency service vehicles or vehicles being used in connection with the said works or for winter maintenance or traffic officer purposes). The Order comes into force on 28 June 2026 and has a maximum duration of eighteen months.
