NOTICE OF MAKING TEMPORARY TRAFFIC RESTRICTION ORDER
IN THE BIRKENHEAD AREA 2026
Notice is hereby given that Wirral Borough Council have made the above order under section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended by section 1 and Schedule 1 of the Road Traffic (Temporary Restrictions) Act 1991 and of all other enabling powers to enable proposed works to be executed on or near the roads specified in the proposed order (having already advertised notice of intent).
The effects of the order, the alternative route for vehicular traffic, the date the order comes into force and its maximum duration is set out below.
Victoria Road (Temporary Road Closure) Birkenhead Order 2026
The effect of this order will be to close Victoria Road, Birkenhead at its junction with Derby Road to its junction with Dingle Road to all vehicular traffic. Access will be maintained for pedestrians and cyclists.
Alternative Route: Derby Road, Elmswood Road, Borough Road.
Maximum Duration of the order: From 15 June 2026 and will continue to be in force for 18 months or for such less time as is necessary to complete the work to be executed in the highway, although it is anticipated that the works will be completed by 10 July 2026.

NOTICE OF MAKING TEMPORARY TRAFFIC RESTRICTION ORDER
IN THE NEW BRIGHTON AREA 2026
Notice is hereby given that Wirral Borough Council intend to make a Temporary Road Traffic Regulation Order under section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended by section 1 and Schedule 1 of the Road Traffic (Temporary Restrictions) Act 1991 and of all other enabling powers to enable works on or near the roads specified in the proposed order to take place.
The effects of the order, the alternative route for vehicular traffic, the date the order comes into force and its maximum duration is set out below.
Magazine Brow (Temporary Road Closure) New Brighton Order 2026
The effect of this order will be to close Magazine Brow, New Brighton at its junction with Fort Street to its junction with Holland Road to all vehicular traffic. Access will be maintained for pedestrians and cyclists.
Alternative Route: Magazine Lane, Seabank Road, Holland Road vice versa.
Maximum Duration of the order: From 1 July 2026 and will continue to be in force for 18 months or for such less time as is necessary to complete the work to be executed in the highway, although it is anticipated that the works will be completed by 16 July 2026.
Section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 (as amended) Notice of making Temporary Traffic Restriction Order in the Birkenhead Area 2026
Notice is hereby given that Wirral Borough Council intend to make a Temporary Road Traffic Regulation Order under section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended by section 1 and Schedule 1 of the Road Traffic (Temporary Restrictions) Act 1991 in respect of certain highways in the Birkenhead Area which the Council is satisfied are necessary to be made because of the likelihood of danger to the public and serious damage to the road.
The effect of the temporary order and the date the order comes into force, and its maximum duration is set out below.
Borough Road East and Jackson Street (Temporary Weight Restriction)
Hind Street and Jackson Street (Temporary Suspension of One Way)
Birkenhead Order 2026
The general nature and effect of this temporary order will be to
(1) prohibit vehicles exceeding the maximum gross weight of 7.5 tonnes from entering or proceeding along (i) Borough Road East from its junction with Thomas Street in an easterly direction to its junction with Jackson Street (ii) Borough Road East from a point 85 metres west of its junction with Tunnel Road in a westerly direction to its junction with Jackson Street (iii) Jackson Street from its junction with Borough Road East in a southerly direction for a distance of 30 metres, and,
(2) to temporarily suspend the existing one-way traffic flow restriction for
(i) Hind Street for its full extent
(ii) Jackson Street from its junction with Blackpool Street / Waterloo Place in a northerly direction for a distance of 85 metres and these lengths of carriageway to revert to two-way traffic flow to enable access for local businesses and deliveries.
Maximum Duration of the order: From 13 July 2026 and will continue to be in force for 18 months.

ALABAMA WAY, BIRKENHEAD (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) ORDER 2026
SCHEME REF NO. TQ/26/01
- Take Notice that Wirral Borough Council in exercise of its powers under Sections 1, 2, 3, 4 & 92 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 (hereinafter call’d “the Act”) and all of the other enabling powers, has on the 28th of May 2026.
- The Order set out in this notice shall come into operation on 8th of June 2026.
- A copy of the Order can be requested via email at trafficschemedfeedback@wirral.gov.uk or via the contact centre 0151 606 2004. It will also be available for inspection by visiting the licencing department, at the Councils Principal Office: Wallasey Town Hall, Brighton St, Wallasey CH44 8ED between 9.30am & 12pm and 2pm & 4pm, Monday to Friday, quoting the above scheme reference.
- Any person wishing to object to the validity of the Order or any of its provisions on the grounds that it or any of its provisions are not within the powers conferred by the Act or that any requirement of the Act or of any instrument under it has not been complied with may within 6 weeks from the 3rd of June 2026 apply for that purpose to the High Court.
Prohibition of Driving, any day between 8.00pm & 7.00am
No persons shall cause or permit any unauthorised motor vehicle to proceed along Alabama Way, Birkenhead, between the hours of 8.00pm and 7.00am on any day from its junction with Monks Ferry to its termination at the Priory Wharf parking area.
