(TEMPORARY 30MPH SPEED RESTRICTION) ORDER 2026

The Scottish Borders Council (A701 Tweedsmuir) (Temporary 30mph Speed Restriction) Order 2026 has been made under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended. The Order, which has a maximum duration of 18 months, will come into force on 6 June 2026 and is expected to remain in effect for a period of one day between the hours of 12:00 and 20:00. The Order is required in the interests of public safety due to increased traffic attending the Community Summer Gathering event at Tweedsmuir. When the Order comes into effect, in the interests of public safety, no person shall drive, or cause, or permit to be driven any vehicle at a speed exceeding 30mph along the A701 at Tweedsmuir from a point 400 metres north of the Crook Inn to a point 400 metres south of the Crook Inn.

(VARIOUS ROADS – SURFACE DRESSING)

(TEMPORARY TRAFFIC REGULATION) ORDER 2026

The Scottish Borders Council (Various Roads – Surface Dressing) (Temporary Traffic Regulation) Order 2026 has been made under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended. The Order, which has a maximum duration of 18 months, will come into force on 1 June 2026 and is expected to remain in effect until 23 June 2026, as detailed in the Schedule below. The Order is required for surface dressing works.

When the Order comes into effect no person shall:

(a) drive or cause or permit to be driven any vehicle along those lengths of road in the Scottish Borders detailed in the Schedule below: and

(b) drive or cause or permit to be driven any vehicle at a speed exceeding 10mph along the A701 at Logan Cottage to Polmood.

1 June 2026 for 1 day - D72/6 Dykegatehead, Whitsome.

The alternative route for northbound traffic is via the D72/6, C99, B6437, D72/6 to the point of closure, for southbound traffic the reverse of the foregoing.

Closure 2

2 June 2026 for 1 day - C46 Stichill to Ednam

The alternative route for northbound traffic is via the B6401, A6089, B6364 and North on the C46 to the point of closure, for southbound traffic the reverse of the foregoing.

Closure 3

3 June 2026 for 1 day - D6/6 Horseupcleuch

There is no alternative route.

Closure 4

4 June 2026 for 1 day - C33 North Riccalton to Brundeanlaws

The alternative route for eastbound traffic is via the C33, A68, C32, D91/3, D140/4 and C41 to the point of

closure, for westbound traffic the reverse of the foregoing.

Closure 5

5 June 2026 for 1 day - D94/3 Letham

The alternative route for northbound traffic is via the A68 and A6088 to the point of closure, for southbound traffic the reverse of the foregoing.

8 June 2026 for 1 day - B6399 Berryfell to Shankend

The alternative route for southbound traffic is via the B6399, A7, A698, A6088, B6357 and B6399 to the point of closure, for northbound traffic the reverse of the foregoing.

10 June 2026 for 1 day - B6362 Stow to Lauder

The alternative route for eastbound traffic is via the B6362, A7, A6091T, A68T and B6362 to the point of closure, for westbound traffic the reverse of the foregoing.

12 June 2026 for 1 day - A6112 Preston

The alternative route for northbound traffic is via the A6112, A6105, A1 and A6112 to point of closure, for southbound traffic the reverse of the foregoing.

From 08:30 to 17:30 on 15 June 2026 for 1 day - A6105 Gavinton to Choicelee

The alternative route for eastbound traffic is via the A6105, A697, B6460, A6112 and A6105 to point of closure, for westbound traffic the reverse of the foregoing.

Closure 10

From 08:30 to 17:30 on 17 June 2026 for 1 day - A7 Buckholm to Bowland

The alternative route for northbound traffic is via the A7, A6091, A68, B6458 and A7 to point of closure, for southbound traffic the reverse of the foregoing.

Closure 11

From 19 June 2026 for 1 day - A701 Halmyre to Noblehouse

The alternative route for southbound traffic is via the A701, A703, A72 and A701 to point of closure, for northbound traffic the reverse of the foregoing.

Closure 12

On 22 June 2026 for 1 day – A701 Logan Cottage to Polmood

The alternative route for southbound traffic is via the A701, A72, A702, B7076 and A701 to the point of closure, for northbound traffic the reverse of the foregoing.

Closure 13

On 23 June 2026 for 1 day - B6357 Saughtree Station

The alternative routes are as follows:

Vehicles 10 Tonnes and under

Southbound traffic is via the B6357, A6088, A698, B6399 and B6357 to the point of closure, for Northbound traffic, the reverse of the foregoing.

Vehicles 10 Tonnes and over

Southbound traffic is via the B6357, A6088, A7T and B6357 to the point of closure for northbound traffic the reverse of the foregoing.

10mph Speed Restriction

From 07:30 to 17:30 on 9 June 2026 for a period of 1 day - A701 Logan Cottage to Polmood

The restriction will be in effect only when signs etc are in place.
