What is happening?

NORTH LANARKSHIRE COUNCIL
NEWTON DRIVE, NEWMAINS (TEMPORARY ROAD CLOSURE) ORDER 2026

On 26 May 2026 the North Lanarkshire Council made the above-named Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended by Schedule 1 of the Road Traffic (Temporary Restrictions) Act 1991, and in exercise of all other enabling powers, which makes it unlawful for any person to drive or cause or permit to be driven any motor vehicle (with the exception of vehicles engaged on completion of drainage connections) on Newton Drive, Newmains from the extended west kerb line of its east junction with Tollpark Crescent eastwards to the extended east kerb line of the west junction with Tollpark Crescent, a distance of 80m or thereby by reason of works being executed on or near that location.

Alternative routes: Vehicles on the east side of the closure of Newton Drive wishing to access the west side of the closure on Newton Drive should travel via Tollpark Crescent.

Vehicles on the west side of the closure on Newton Drive wishing to access the east side of the closure on Newton Drive should proceed vice versa.

Pedestrian access will be maintained, where practicable, during the closure.

The Order, will come into operation at 0001 hours on Tuesday, 09 June 2026 and will remain in operation until 23:59 hours on Friday, 26 July 2026.
