What is happening?

HERTFORDSHIRE COUNTY COUNCIL:

(TEMPORARY TRAFFIC MANAGEMENT MEASURES ON VARIOUS ROADS IN WATFORD) ORDER NO.2 2026

NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council intends to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, the effect on the following lengths of roads (“the Roads”) will be:-

1. To prohibit all vehicular traffic from using that length of Woodmere Avenue, Watford from its junction with A41 North Western Avenue Colne Way south westwards for a distance of approximately 63m.

An alternative route will be via A41 (North Western Avenue Colne Way/North Western Avenue), A412 St Albans Road, Bushey Mill Lane and Woodmere Avenue or via A41 (North Western Avenue Colne Way/North Western Avenue), A412 St Albans Road, Bushey Mill Lane, Tudor Avenue and Colne Way.

2. To prohibit all vehicular traffic from making a right turn manoeuvre from A41 North Western Avenue Colne Way into Woodmere Avenue, Watford, whilst signs are in place.

An alternative route will be via A41 (North Western Avenue Colne Way/North Western Avenue), A412 St Albans Road, Bushey Mill Lane and Woodmere Avenue.

3. The existing one way traffic system on Colne Way, Watford from its junction with Woodmere Avenue north westwards to its junction with Tudor Avenue, a distance of approximately 272m will be temporarily suspended to enable all vehicles to travel in both directions within this length of road, whilst works are in progress.

The Order is needed because utility service works are proposed to be executed on or near the Roads.

The Order will come into effect from 13 June 2026 and will be valid for a period of 18 months. The works are scheduled to take 2 days to complete and will only take effect on the days and times indicated by signs on or near the Roads.

(TEMPORARY CLOSING OF BRIDLE PATH, WATFORD) ORDER 2026

NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council intends to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using that length of Bridle Path, Watford from its junction with Station Road north eastwards to its junction with St Albans Road, a distance of approximately 48m (“the Road”), except for access.

There is no alternative route available, but access will be maintained wherever possible throughout the duration of the works.

The Order is needed because gas works are proposed to be executed on or near the Road.

The Order will come into effect from 16 June 2026 and will be valid for a period of 18 months. The works are scheduled to take 3 days to complete and will only take effect on the days and times indicated by signs on or near the Road.

(TEMPORARY CLOSING OF THE LARCHES, WATFORD) ORDER 2026

NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council intends to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using that length of The Larches, Watford from its junction with B462 Elmbank Road north westwards for its entire length (“the Road”).

There is no alternative route available, but access will be maintained wherever possible throughout the duration of the works.

The Order is needed because works are proposed to be executed on or near the Road.

The Order will come into effect from 15 June 2026 and will be valid for a period of 18 months. The works are scheduled to take 2 days to complete and will only take effect on the days and times indicated by signs on or near the Road.

(TEMPORARY CLOSING OF CROXLEY GREEN PUBLIC FOOTPATH NO.018) ORDER 2026

NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council intends to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all pedestrians from using Croxley Green Public Footpath No.018 from its junction with Housebarn Lane south westwards to its junction with Links Way, a distance of approximately 89m (“the Public Footpath”).

An alternative route will be via the footway situated on the south west side of Rousebarn Lane, the footway situated on the south east side of Little Green Lane and the footway situated on the north east side of Links Way.

The Order is needed because works are proposed to be executed on or near the Public Footpath.

The Order will come into effect from 15 June 2026 and will be valid for a period of 6 months. The works are scheduled to take 3 days to complete and will only take effect on the days and times indicated by signs on or near the Public Footpath.

(TEMPORARY CLOSING AND WAITING RESTRICTIONS ON ARUNDEL DRIVE, BOREHAMWOOD AND GARFIELD STREET, WATFORD) ORDER 2026

NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council intends to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using the following lengths of roads (“the Roads”), except for access and to prohibit all vehicles from waiting at any time on both sides of these lengths of Roads whilst works are in progress:-

1. that length of Arundel Drive, Borehamwood from its junction with Manor Way south westwards to its junction with Furzehill Road, a distance of approximately 502m.

An alternative route will be via Manor Way, Cranes Way and Furzehill Road.

2. that length of Garfield Street, Watford from its junction with Leavesden Road south westwards to its junction with Milton Street, a distance of approximately 154m.

An alternative route will be via Leavesden Road, Parker Street and Milton Street.

The Order is needed because works are proposed to be executed on or near the Roads.

The Order will come into effect on 15 June 2026 and will be valid for a period of 18 months. The works are scheduled to take 5 days to complete and will only take effect on the days and times indicated by signs on or near the Roads.

(TEMPORARY 30MPH SPEED RESTRICTIONS ON A41 (NORTH WESTERN AVENUE COLNE WAY/NORTH WESTEN AVENUE), WATFORD) ORDER 2026

NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council intends to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from being driven at a speed exceeding 30mph on that length of A41 (North Western Avenue Colne Way/North Westen Avenue), Watford from its junction with Woodmere Avenue north westwards for a distance of approximately 641m (“the length of Roads”), when signs are in place.

The Order is needed because utility service works are proposed to be executed on or near the length of Roads.

The Order will come into effect from 15 June 2026 and will be valid for a period of 18 months. The works are scheduled to take 1 day to complete and will only take effect on the days and times indicated by signs on or near the length of Roads.

NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council has made the above Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using that length of Stratfield Road, Borehamwood from its junction with Brook Road south westwards to its junction with Theobald Street, a distance of approximately 722m (“the Road”), except for access.

An alternative route will be via Brook Road, B5378 Shenley Road and Theobald Street.

ADDITIONALLY all vehicles are prohibited from waiting at any time on both sides of this length of Road, whilst works are in progress.

The Order is needed because works are proposed to be executed on or near the Road.

The Order will come into effect from 1 June 2026 and will be valid for a period of 18 months. The works are scheduled to take 5 days to complete and will only take effect on the days and times indicated by signs on or near the Road.

NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council has made the above Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using that length of A4008 Oxhey Lane, Carpenders Park from its junction with Highfield southwards and south eastwards for a distance of approximately 1016m (“the Road”), except for access.

An alternative route will be via A4008 (Oxhey Lane/Pinner Road), A411 (Chalk Hill/London Road/Sparrows Herne/High Road), A4140 High Road, A409 (Common Road/Brookhill), A410 Uxbridge Road and A4008 Oxhey Lane

or via A4008 Oxhey Lane, A410 Uxbridge Road, A409 (Brookshill/Common Road), A4140 High Road, A411 (High Road/Sparrows Herne/London Road/Chalk Hill) and A4008 (Aldenham Road/Pinner Road/Oxhey Lane).

NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council has made the above Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all pedestrians from using the footpath situated on the north side of North Approach, Watford from its westernmost junction with North Approach north eastwards, south eastwards, northwards, eastwards, south eastwards and southwards for a distance of approximately 106m (“the Footpath”).

An alternative route will be via the footway situated on the south side of North Approach.

The Order is needed because works are proposed to be executed on or near the Footpath.

NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council has made the above Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using that length of Minerva Drive/Greenbank Road, Watford from its junction with Goodwood Avenue south westwards, north westwards, south westwards, south eastwards, south westwards and south eastwards to its junction with The Drive, a distance of approximately 884m (“the length of Roads”), except for access.

An alternative route will be via Goodwood Avenue, Courtlands Drive, Rosecroft Drive and The Drive.

ADDITIONALLY all vehicles are prohibited from waiting at any time on both sides of this length of Roads, whilst works are in progress.

The Order is needed because works are proposed to be executed on or near the length of Roads.

(REVOCATION OF PROHIBITION OF STOPPING) ORDER 2026

PEDESTRIAN CROSSING AND ROAD HUMP NOTICE

(GALLOWS HILL LANE, ABBOTS LANGLEY) ORDER 2026

NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council in order to improve road safety proposes to extend the 20 mph zone on Gallows Hill Lane as specified in Schedule 1 to this Notice and to remove the existing School Keep Clear restrictions as specified in Schedule 2 to this Notice.

It is also proposed under Section 23 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 and sections 90A - 90F of the Highways Act 1980 to construct a Zebra pedestrian crossing facility on a flat topped road hump on that length of Gallows Hill Lane, Abbots Langley as specified in Schedules 3 and 4 to this Notice.

SCHEDULE 3: Zebra pedestrian crossing facility to be constructed on the flat topped road hump in Schedule 4 – that section of road listed below and as set out in the scheme plan – part of Gallows Hill Lane – centred on a point 9.7 metres north east of a point in line with the projected south west kerbline of the access road into Breakspeare School.

SCHEDULE 4: Flat topped road humps and speed cushions – those sections of road listed below and as set out in the scheme plan – Parts of Gallows Hill Lane.

Gallows Hill Lane – from a point 5.4 metres north east of a point in line with the projected south west kerbline of the access road into Breakspeare School north eastwards for a distance of 8.6 metres.

The above raised speed table will be constructed at a height of approximately 65mm above the existing carriageway with on/off gradients of approximately 1:20.

Speed cushions

Gallows Hill Lane – centred on a point in line with the boundary between 96 and 98 Gallows Hill Lane.

The speed cushions to be laid in a pair will be constructed and in accordance with The Highways (Road Humps) Regulations 1999 at a height of approximately 65mm above the existing carriageway with on/off gradients of approximately 1:8 and side gradients of approximately 1:5.
