(TEMPORARY ROAD CLOSURES) NO. 2 ORDER 2026

NOTICE is hereby given that Neath Port Talbot County Borough Council has made an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 (as amended). 

The effect of the Order will be to temporarily prohibit vehicular traffic from proceeding along the lengths of roads set out in the Schedule below whilst the Order is in force. During such periods as are indicated by traffic signs informing the public that the roads are closed. 

The Order is necessary to enable the Council's Highway Section to carry out resurfacing and maintenance works in the roads. The Order will come into force on the 3rd June 2026 and shall continue in force for a maximum duration of 18 months, or until the works are completed whichever is the sooner.

SCHEDULE
A474 Graig Road & Heol Cae Gurwen will be closed from its junction withLeyshon Road in a south-easterly direction to its junction with Water Street.

The alternative route for vehicular traffic will be via the A474 Heol Cae Gurwen, Heol Y Gors, Pontardawe Road, Commercial Road, Gelligron Road, James Street, Swansea Road, A474 Herbert Street Bypass, Link from A4067 to A474, A4067 from Pontardawe to Ynysmeudwy, A4067 from Ynysmeudwy to Godre'r Graig, Glan Yr Avon, A4067 from Ystalyfera to Ystradgynlais, A4068 Bethel Road, Heol Twrch, Heol Gleien, Heol Gwys, New Road, Gwilym Road, A4068 Cwmgarw Road, A4069 Mountain Road, Church Street, A4069 Station Road, A40, A483 Rhosmaen Street, Bridge Street, Heol Cennen, Towy Terrace, Heol Cennen, Llandeilo Road, Heol Gwilym, Ammanford Road, Bonllwyn Road, Llandybie Road, College Street, High Street, A483 Wind Street, A474 Ffordd William Walker, Heol Breuillet, Foundry Road, Pontamman Road, Cwmamman Road and unaffected section A474 Graig Road.

The alternative route for vehicular traffic will be via the A474 Heol Cae Gurwen, Heol Y Gors, Pontardawe Road, Commercial Road, Gelligron Road, James Street, Swansea Road, A474 Herbert Street Bypass, Link from A4067 to A474, A4067 from Pontardawe to Ynysmeudwy, A4067 from Ynysmeudwy to Godre'r Graig, Glan Yr Avon, A4067 from Ystalyfera to Ystradgynlais, A4068 Bethel Road, Heol Twrch, Heol Gleien, Heol Gwys, New Road, Gwilym Road, A4068 Cwmgarw Road, A4069 Mountain Road, Llandeilo Road, Station Road, Amman Road, Park Street, Cannon Street and unaffected section Brynamman Road.

B4242 from Aberdulais to Abergarwed will be closed from its junction with B4242 Ynysygerwn Avenue in an easterly direction for 570m along its length.
The alternative route for vehicular traffic will be via B4242 Ynysygerwn Avenue, Main Road, Aberdulais Roundabout, A465, Commercial Road, Glynneath Road, Neath Road and the B4242 from Aberdulais to Abergarwed.

B4287 from Cimla to Efail Fach will be closed from its junction with Tonmawr Road in a north-westerly direction for approximately 600m along its length.
The alternative route for vehicular traffic will be via Efail Fach, Main Road, Queen Street, Danybont, Maes Y Bettws, B4286 from Cwmavon to Pontrhydyfen, Salem Road, Depot Road, Ty'r Owen Row, High Street, Cwmavon Road, Heilbronn Way, Pentyla Roundabout, Pentyla Baglan Road, Dinas Baglan Road, Sarnfan Baglan Road, Pentwyn Baglan Road, A48 from Briton Ferry to Baglan, Neath Road, Cwrt Sart, Pantyrheol, Furnace Terrace, Mile End Row, Briton Ferry Road, Eastland Road, Cimla Road, Afan Valley Road and B4287 from Cimla to Pontrhydyfen.

Beechwood Avenue will be closed from its junction with Dyfed Road in a southerly direction to its junction with the B4287 Cimla Road.
The alternative route for vehicular traffic will be via Dyfed Road, Gnoll Park Road, Victoria Gardens and Cimla Road.

Gnoll Crescent will be closed from its junction with Beechwood Avenue in its entirety. There is no alternative route.

Woodside Avenue will be closed from its junction with Beechwood Avenue in its entirety. There is no alternative route.

Harle Street will be closed from its junction with the B4434 Gnoll Park Road in a south-easterly direction to its junction with Glen Road. 
The alternative route for vehicular traffic is via Ivy Avenue, Dyfed Road, Prince of Wales Drive Gnoll Park Road Roundabout and Gnoll Park Road.

Bracken Road will be closed from its junction with Harle Street in its entirety. There is no alternative route.

Oakwood Road will be closed from junction with Harle Street in its entirety. There is no alternative route

Lane to the rear of numbers 1 to 11 Oakwood Road will be closed from its junction with Harle Street in its entirety. There is no alternative route.

Lane to the rear of numbers 1 to 33 Harle Street will be closed from its junction with Hazelwood Road in a south-easterly direction in its entirety.
There is no alternative route.

Hazelwood Road will be closed from its junction with Harle Street in a south-westerly direction for its entirety.
There is no alternative route.

Lane to the rear of numbers 85 to 101 Gnoll Park Road will be closed from its junction with Harle Street in a southwesterly direction in its entirety.
There is no alternative route.

Herons Way, Bryncoch will be closed from its junction with Leiros Parc Drive in a southerly direction to its junction with Daphne Road.
The alternative route for vehicular traffic will be via Leiros Parc Drive, Penywern Road and Daphne Road.

James Street, Pontardawe will be closed from its junction with the A474 Swansea Road in a northerly direction to its junction with Parc Gilbertson.
The alternative route for vehicular traffic will be via High Street, Brynawel, Alltywerin, Cefn Llan Road and Gelligron Road.

Dynevor Terrace will be closed from its junction with James Street in an easterly direction to its junction with Quarr Road.
The alternative route for vehicular traffic will be via James Street, High Street and Dynevor Terrace.
The One-Way Traffic Order on Dynevor Terrace will be suspended for the duration of the closure from the junction of High Street in a westerly direction to the junction of Quarr Road.

Alltacham Drive will be closed from its junction with James Street in a northerly direction to its junction with Church Street. The alternative route for vehicular traffic will be via Alltacham Drive, Byrnawel, High Street and James Street.

A4067 from Pontardawe to Ynysmeudwy will be closed from its junction with the A4067 Glais to Pontardawe road in an easterly direction to its junction with the B4603 Ynysmeudwy Road.
The alternative route for vehicular traffic will be via the A4067 roundabout from Glais to Pontardawe, Link road from A4067 to A474, A474 Herbert Street Bypass, Swansea Road, B4603 High Street, Brecon Road, New Road, B4603Ynysmeudwy
Road and the A4067 Roundabout from Pontardawe to Ynysmeudwy.

Baglan Way, Aberavon will be closed from its junction with Moor Road in a southerly direction to its junction with Abbottsmoor for 1km along its length.
The alternative route for vehicular traffic will be via the remaining unaffected area of Baglan Way, Afan Way, Seaway Parade and the Roundabout between Fenbrook Close and Baglan Way.

Cwmavon Road, Cwmavon will be closed from its junction with Afan Street in a northerly direction for 1.1km along its length.
The alternative route for vehicular traffic will be via the remaining unaffected area of the B4286 Cwmavon Road, High Street, Ty'r Owen Row, Depot Road, Salem Road, B4286 from Cwmavon to Pontrhydyfen, Maes Y Bettws, Dan Y Bont, Queen Street, Afan Valley Road, Dan Y Ffynnon, Lletty Harri, Pen Y Cae Road, Tan Y Groes Street, Abbey Road, Talbot Road, Heilbronn Way and the unaffected area of Cwmavon Road.

Glynneath Road, Glynneath will be closed from its junction with the B4242 Blaengwrach to Glynneath road in an easterly direction for 860m along its length.
The alternative route for vehicular traffic will be via the B4242 Blaengwrach to Glynneath, A465, Commercial Road and the unaffected section of the B4242 Glynneath Road.

Railway Terrace & Prosser Terrace will be closed at a point 50m west of its junction with Maesteg Road Lane to Craig Y Fan Terrace in a westerly direction to its junction with Abercregan Road. There is no alternative route.

Lane to the rear of Prossers Terrace will be closed from its junction with Prossers Terrace in a north-westerly direction in its entirety.
There is no alternative route.

Hopkins Terrace will be closed from its junction with Abercregan Road in a westerly direction in its entirety.
There is no alternative route.

Abercregan Road will be closed from its junction with Prossers Terrace in a southerly direction for its entirety. There is no alternative route.

Alban Terrace will be closed from its junction with Abercregan Road in a westerly direction for its entirety. There is no alternative route.
