What is happening?
CITY OF NEWCASTLE UPON TYNE (NEWCASTLE HALF MARATHON & 10K) TEMPORARY TRAFFIC REGULATION ORDER 2026
1. NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Council of the City of Newcastle upon Tyne intend, not less than seven days from the date of this Notice, to make an Order under Section 16A of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, the effect of which will be to prohibit any vehicular traffic to proceed on;
i - Brunton Road - from Cranleigh Avenue to Brunton Lane,
ii - Brunton Lane - from Brunton Road to Dinnington Road,
iii - Dinnington Road - from Brunton Lane to Main Road,
iv - Main Road - from Dinnington Road to Horton Grange Road,
v - Horton Grange Road - from Main Road to its boundary with Northumberland, and
vi - Brenkley Lane - for its entire length.
2. The alternative route for traffic will be signed on site as required.
3. The Order is required in connection with Newcastle Half Marathon & 10k (“the Event”) and to reduce the disruption to traffic likely to be caused by the Event. The Order is required to allow the Event to be carried out safely on or near the highway and to ensure the health and safety of the public.
4. Appropriate traffic management will be in place during the closures.
5. Exemptions will be provided for vehicles engaged in the said event and police, fire brigade and ambulance vehicles on emergency call.
6. The Order will come into operation on 12 July 2026 and will continue, as and when the relevant traffic signs are displayed, up to 12 July 2026 or until the proposed event has ended, whichever is the earlier.
