What is happening?

WESTMORLAND AND FURNESS COUNCIL

DALTONGATE AND ARGYLE STREET/BACK STREET, ULVERSTON, MAIN STREET, GLEASTON AND U5123 SWARTHMOOR) TEMPORARY TRAFFIC REGULATION ORDER 2026

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that to enable utility works to be carried out ("the Works"), Westmorland and Furness Council has made an Order the effect of which is to prohibit any vehicle from proceeding along the following sections of road:

Daltongate, Ulverston, from its junction with The Knoll, extending in a north easterly direction for approx. 135 metres.

North Westbound Alternative Route: via the unrestricted sections of Daltongate, County Road (A590), Quay Street, Swan Street (B5281), Hart Street, Fountain Street (B5281), King Street.

South Eastbound Alternative Route: via the unrestricted sections of Daltongate, Queen Street (B5281), County Road (A590).

Duration: From 3rd June 2026 for approx. 16 days (Ref: TTROW/18474)

Main Street, Gleaston, from a point approx. 40 metres north west of its junction with Mill Lane, extending in a westerly direction for approx. 40 metres.

Alternative Route: via the unrestricted sections of Main Street (U5149), Piel View (U5150), The Guard and the C5031.

Duration: From 4th June 2026 for approx. 1 day (Ref: TTROW/18549)

U5123, Swarthmoor, from a point approx. 660 metres north east of its junction with the C5036, extending in a north easterly direction for approx. 60 metres.

Alternative Route: via the unrestricted sections of the U5123, U5124 and the C5036.

Duration: From 15th June 2026 for approx. 3 weeks (Ref: TTROW/18623)

Argyle Street – Back Street, Ulverston, from its junction with Chapel Street, extending in an easterly direction for approx. 35 metres.

There is no suitable alternative route available for vehicles.

Duration: From 17th June 2026 for approx. 1 week. (Ref: TTROW/18726)

The Order will come into operation on 3rd June 2026 and may continue in force for a maximum duration of eighteen months. However, please note that it is anticipated that the restrictions will only be required as detailed above, and only as and when the appropriate traffic signs are displayed.
