Grandstand Road - Prohibit Any Vehicular Traffic to Allow the Event to Be Carried Out
What is happening?
CITY OF NEWCASTLE UPON TYNE (CANCER RESEARCH UK) TEMPORARY TRAFFIC REGULATION ORDER 2026
1. NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Council of the City of Newcastle upon Tyne intend, not less than seven days from the date of this Notice, to make an Order under Section 16A of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, the effect of which will be to prohibit any vehicular traffic to proceed on Grandstand Road between Blue House Roundabout and Kenton Road.
2. The alternative route for traffic will be signed on site as required.
3. The Order is required in connection with Cancer Research UK (“the Event”) and to reduce the disruption to traffic likely to be caused by the Event. The Order is required to allow the Event to be carried out safely on or near the highway and to ensure the health and safety of the public.
4. Appropriate traffic management will be in place during the closures.
5. Exemptions will be provided for vehicles engaged in the said event and police, fire brigade and ambulance vehicles on emergency call.
6. The Order will come into operation on 12 July 2026 at 07:00 and will continue, as and when the relevant traffic signs are displayed, up to 12 July 2026 at 13:00 or until the proposed event has ended, whichever is the earlier.
