TEMPORARY TRAFFIC REGULATION ORDERS 2026

(NORWICH)

Road Traffic Regulation Act, 1984

Norfolk County Council in exercise of its powers under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, hereby give notice that:

i) THEY PROPOSE TO MAKE Temporary Traffic Regulation Orders in respect of the following roads:

BETHEL STREET – from its junction with Little Bethel Street for 30m north-westwards to facilitate telecommunications installation works, traffic (constituting any class of vehicle) over the Road shall be temporarily prohibited to park, stop, load, and/or unload between 09:30 and 15:00 from 10th to 11th June 2026 (may continue until 23rd July 2026). Alternative route is via: N/A. The works promoter is Virgin Media.

JUNCTION ROAD – from its junction with Avonmouth Road for 17m southwards to facilitate a water meter exchange between 08:00 and 16:00 on 10th June 2026 (may continue until 22nd July 2026). Alternative route is via: Drayton Road, Aylsham Road and vice versa. The works promoter is Anglian Water.

UNTHANK ROAD – from its junction with Lincoln Street to its junction with Mile End Road to facilitate surface dressing and associated works from 6th to 14th June 2026 (may continue until 26th July 2026). Alternative route is via: Mile End Road, Newmarket Road, St Stephens Road, St Stephens Roundabout, Chapel Field Road, Unthank Road and vice versa. The works promoter is Norfolk County Council. NB: These works will take place in phases: Phase 1 between 19:00 and 23:59 from the 6th to 7th June 2026 and Phase 2 between 19:00 and 23:59 from the 13th to 14th June 2026.

ii) THEY HAVE MADE Temporary Traffic Regulation Orders in respect of the following roads:

EARLHAM GROVE – from its junction with Beverley Road to its junction with Cadge Road to facilitate gas main replacement works from 1st to 26th June 2026 (may continue until 26th December 2026). Alternative route is via: Beverley Road, Ranworth Road, Cadge Road and vice versa. The works promoter is Cadent.

NEWMARKET ROAD – from its junction with Elveden Close to its junction with Brunswick Road to facilitate tree works. The Road will be subject to the temporary suspension of the restriction on unpermitted vehicles travelling in the bus lane to allow all classes of vehicles to travel within the bus lane between 09:00 and 15:30 from 2nd to 20th June 2026 (may continue until 1st August 2026). Alternative route is via: N/A. The works promoter is Norfolk County Council.

Unless otherwise stated, the effect of these Orders will be to prohibit the use by traffic of the named road(s)/footpath(s). In the event of the start date being delayed the new start date will be displayed on site in advance. Where an Order is for a reason other than works it is because of the likelihood of danger to the public or of serious damage to the road/footpath. Anticipated dates are stated but the Orders may continue until the end date where necessary or required. The Orders are revoked on the end date or on the actual date of removal of the prohibition/restriction where earlier without further notice. If necessary, the restrictions can have a maximum duration of 18 months or 6 months in respect of footpaths, cycle paths, bridleways, restricted byways, and byways open to all traffic (BOAT).

Penalty: £1000 maximum fine on conviction and/or endorsement for contravention.
