What is happening?
THE KENT COUNTY COUNCIL (VARIOUS ROADS, BOROUGH OF SWALE)
(WAITING RESTRICTIONS AND STREET PARKING PLACES)
(CONSOLIDATION) (AMENDMENT No.29) ORDER 2026
NOTICE is hereby given that the KENT COUNTY COUNCIL had made the above Order under sections 1, 2, 32, 35, 36, 45, 46, 47, 49, 53, 124 and Part IV of Schedule 9 to the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, the Traffic Management Act 2004, and all other enabling powers, after consultation with the Chief Officer of Police in accordance with Part III of Schedule 9 to the Act.
The Order was made on 4th June 2026, will come into effect on 19th June 2026, and will Amend The Kent County Council (Various Roads, Borough of Swale) (Waiting Restrictions and Street Parking Places) (Consolidation) Order 2024 by:-
(a) In Roman Square, Sittingbourne, installing double yellow lines around the entrance to the service area at the side of Swallows Leisure Centre;
(b) In Ufton Lane, Sittingbourne, extending the existing Residents’ Parking Bay opposite
127 Ufton Lane by 1 metre at either end, and reducing the existing double yellow lines, to increase on-street parking capacity;
(c) In West Street, Sittingbourne, replacing a section of the existing double yellow lines outside of The Golden Hope Wetherspoons with a single yellow line, operational between 7am and 7pm, and a taxi rank operational between 7pm and 7am on all days;
(d) Installing new, or formalising existing disabled persons’ parking bays outside 3 St Ann’s Road and 91 St Mary’s Road in Faversham, 74 High Street and 33 Gordon Avenue in Queenborough, 11 Broad Street and 87 Granville Road in Sheerness, 51 Bull Lane, Newington, 1 Bradshaw Close, Upchurch, 15 Ruins Barn Road, Tunstall, and 58 and 50 Harold Road in Sittingbourne;
(e) Removing the redundant disabled persons’ parking bays outside 60 and 70 Harold Road,
45 Epps Road, 5 Rock Road and 64 Oak Road in Sittingbourne, 28 Windermere and 23 Brook Road in Faversham, and 28 Wellesley Road, Sheerness.
The Order includes some changes of an administrative matter which will make no alterations to existing parking and waiting restrictions and will require no changes to existing parking lines
or signs.

Anyone may, by application to the High Court within 6 weeks of the date of publication of this Notice, challenge the validity of the Orders or of any provision contained in them on the grounds that it is not within the powers conferred by the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, or any instrument made thereunder, or that there has been a failure to comply with any statutory requirement to the Orders.
