What is happening?

Kent County Council, acting in exercise of its powers under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, makes or intends to make the following Orders.
SWALE AREA
Chalkwell Road, Sittingbourne, ME10 2NY (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER JUNE 2026
To allow frame and cover works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Chalkwell Road, Sittingbourne from 20:00 hours on 17th June 2026, with estimated completion by 05:00 hours on 18th June 2026, or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed between numbers 48 and 60, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for any through traffic is via A2 London Road, Key Street, Key Street Roundabout, Sheppey Way, Bobbing Interchange, B2006 Staplehurst Road, Staplehurst Road Roundabout, Chalkwell Road and vice versa.
Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.
Church Road, Tonge, ME9 9AX (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER JUNE 2026
To allow installation works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Church Road, Tonge from 1st June 2026, with estimated completion by 12th June 2026, or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed between the junction with Scraps Hill and Tonge Corner Farm, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
There is no alternative route for this closure, however, residential and emergency access will be maintained at all times when it is safe to do so.
Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.
Drake Avenue, Minster-on-sea, ME12 3SN (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER JUNE 2026
To allow heavy jetting works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Drake Avenue, Minster-on-sea from 4th June 2026 for up to one day, between the hours of 09:00 and 16:00, or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed from the junction with Scocles Road, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for any through traffic is via Drake Avenue, Elm Lane, Nelson Avenue, Scocles Road and vice versa.
Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.
Dunkirk Road South, Boughton Under Blean. (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER JUNE 2026
To allow pole and cabling works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Dunkirk Road South, Boughton Under Blean from 2nd June 2026 with estimated completion by 4th June 2026, between the hours of 08:00 and 17:00, or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed between the junctions with Snake Lane and South Street, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for any through traffic is via South Street, Snake Lane and Dunkirk Road South.
Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.
Eastling Road, Eastling & Painters Forstal, Ospringe. (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING & TEMPORARY 20 MPH SPEED RESTRICTION) TEMPORARY ORDER JUNE 2026
To allow the Surface Preservation Scheme to take place, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Eastling Road, Painters Forstal on or after 1st June 2026 for up to 18 months. It may be necessary for the road to be closed on multiple occasions for each phase of the works. Planned dates will be published in advance of the works on One.Network and indicated by signage displayed on site 14 days before they start.
After the Surface Treatment works are complete, temporary speed restrictions of 20 mph may be imposed for a period of up to 7 days, these will be clearly indicated by relevant signs displayed on site.
These works are subject to weather conditions and other factors which may potentially cause changes at short notice. Every effort will be made to keep as close as possible to the planned dates and any changes will be publicised.
The road will be closed between the junctions with Painters Forstal Road and Stalisfield Road, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for any through traffic is via Painters Forstal Road, Water Lane, A2 Ospringe Street, London Road, Brogdale Road, Whitehill and vice versa.
Fostall, Hernhill, ME13 9JG (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER JUNE 2026
To allow overhead cabling works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Fostall, Hernhill from 15th June 2026, with estimated completion by 17th June 2026, or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed in the vicinity of number 1 The Cottages, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for any through traffic is via A299 Thanet Way, A299 Thanet Way slip, Graveney, Staple Street, Staplestreet Road, Dawes Road, Thread Lane, Crockham Road, Butlers Hill and Fostall.
Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.
Harty Ferry Road, Leysdown. (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER MAY 2026
To allow pole and cabling works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Harty Ferry Road, Leysdown from 1st June 2026 for up to one day, between the hours of 08:00 and 17:00, or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed approximately 90m west from the burial ground, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
There is no alternative route for this closure, however, residential and emergency access will be maintained at all times when it is safe to do so.
Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.
Lower Road, Buckland. (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER JUNE 2026
To allow pole and cabling works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Lower Road, Buckland from 3rd June 2026 with estimated completion by 4th June 2026, between the hours of 08:00 and 17:00, or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed in the vicinity of Bennetts Gardens heading approximately 80m west from Stone Farm, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for any through traffic is via The Crescent, Station Road, A2 London Road, B2045 Western Link, Bysing Wood Road, Luddenham Hill, Bysing Wood Road, Lower Road and vice versa.
Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.
Railway Road, Sheerness, ME12 1RH (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER JUNE 2026
To allow new service connection works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Railway Road, Sheerness from 15th June 2026, with estimated completion by 19th June 2026, or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed in the vicinity of number 15b, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for any through traffic is via Pepys Avenue, Short Street, Railway Road and vice versa.
Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.
Rushett Lane, Norton, ME13 0SH (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER JUNE 2026
To allow pole and cabling works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Rushett Lane, Norton from 18th June 2026 with estimated completion by 19th June 2026, between the hours of 08:00 and 17:00, or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed from the junction with Faversham Road, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for any through traffic is via Faversham Road, A2 London Road, Provender Lane, Rushett Lane and vice versa.
Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.
Salters Lane, Faversham & Selling. (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER JUNE 2026
To allow installation works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Salters Lane, Faversham & Selling from 15th June 2026 with estimated completion by 28th June 2026, or until the works have been completed.
The road will be closed in the vicinity of the M2 bridge, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for any through traffic is via A2 Canterbury Road, A251 Ashford Road and vice versa.
Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.
Sheppey Way, Bobbing & School Lane, Iwade. (TEMPORARY 30 MPH SPEED RESTRICTION & PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER JUNE 2026
To allow gas mains replacement works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Sheppey Way, Bobbing and School Lane, Iwade.
Sheppey Way, Bobbing
A temporary mandatory 30 mph speed restriction will be imposed on Sheppey Way, Bobbing from 15th June 2026, with estimated completion by 13th July 2026.
This restriction will be imposed between Sleepy Meadows and number 8 Woodshole Cottages, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
School Lane, Iwade
The road will be closed from 27th July 2026, with estimated completion by 21st August 2026.
The road will be closed between numbers 92 and 66, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for any through traffic is via Ferry Road, Sheppey Way, Stickfast Lane, Iwade Road, School Lane and vice versa.
Staplestreet Road, Hernhill & Dawes Road, Dunkirk. (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER JUNE 2026
To allow overhead cabling works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Staplestreet Road, Hernhill & Dawes Road, Dunkirk from 1st June 2026 with estimated completion by 4th June 2026, between the hours of 07:00 and 17:00, or until the works have been completed.
Staplestreet Road will be closed between the junction with Dawes Road and Mount Ephraim Bungalow, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for Staplestreet Road is via Staple Street, Butts Hill, Bull Lane, The Street, Staplestreet Road and vice versa.
Dawes Road will be closed between the junctions with Staplestreet Road and Thread Lane, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.
The alternative route for Dawes Road is via Thread Lane, Crockham Road, Butlers Hill, Dargate Road, Courtenay Road, Canterbury Road, Staplestreet Road, Dawes Road and vice versa.
