What is happening?

Gardens, Mitcham, they intend to make an Order, the effect of which would be to temporarily restrict traffic in Montrose Gardens.

2. During the works, no person would:

(a) cause or permit any vehicle to any vehicle to wait, including for the purpose of loading or unloading any vehicle, in Montrose Gardens, both sides, from a point 33 metres north-east of the junction with Upper Green West, north eastward to the common boundary of Nos 22 and 24 Montrose Gardens; and

(b) enter or proceed on foot in Montrose Gardens, in the length of footway, south-side, from the common boundary of Nos. 12 and 14, south-westward for a distance of 8 metres.

3. The restrictions would only apply during such times and to such extent as would from time to time be indicated by traffic signs prescribed by the Traffic Signs Regulations and General Directions 2016.

4. Pedestrians affected by the footway closure should proceed using the footway opposite as directed by traffic signs.

5. Nothing in the Order would apply to: -6. (a) any vehicle being used in connection with the execution of the said works; or

(b) anything done with the permission or at the direction of a police constable in uniform or a police community support officer in uniform; or

(c) any vehicle being used for police, fire brigade or ambulance purposes, subject to site conditions; or

(d) any person requiring pedestrian access to properties adjacent to the prohibited length of footway.

6. Any vehicle waiting in contravention of any restriction imposed by the Order may be removed under the provisions of the Removal and Disposal of Vehicles Regulations 1986.

7. The Order would come into operation on Monday 23 June 2026 and it is anticipated the works would be completed on 29 June 2026. However, the Order would remain in force for 3 months should further works be required.
