OLDHAM BOROUGH COUNCIL

THE OLDHAM - VARIOUS ROADS IN OLDHAM CABLE UPGRADE TEMPORARY ROAD CLOSURE ORDER 2026

The Oldham Borough Council intend to make a Temporary Order under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, the effect of which will be to prohibit vehicles from proceeding along:-

1. Goddard Street, Oldham - from a point 70m northeast of its junction with Ashton Road for a distance of 72m in a northeasterly direction

2. Long Lane, Chadderton - from a point 25m southeast of its junction with Argyll Road for a distance of 15m in a southeasterly direction

3a. Bardsley Street, Chadderton - at its junction with Turf Lane

3b. Shelley Road, Chadderton - at it’s junction with Turf Lane

4. Clarence Avenue, Oldham - at its junction with Chamber Road

5. Lee Street, Oldham - from a point 85m southeast of its junction with Chamber Road for a distance of 55m in a southeasterly direction.

6. Harmony Street, Oldham - in between the south spur of Woodstock Street and Marlborough Street

Alternative route

1. Ashton Road, Broadway Street and Belgrave Road with localised diversions also using Montreal Street and Bethesda Street

2. Turf Lane, Coalshaw Green Road, Butler Green, Thomson Lane, Whitegate Lane and A663 Broadway
3a. Ashton Street and Chestnut Street
3b. Ruskin Avenue

4. Kensington Road and Windsor Road

5. Chamber Road, Burlington Avenue and Manley Road

6. Woodstock Street, Waterloo Street and Marlborough Street

The Order is to be made to allow duct installation works and will be in force for 18 months from 5th June 2026, The order is for the duration of the works. but each individual closure will be for considerably less. These works will be carried out in phases across a number of months which will be determined by the progress made on each road. Residents will be notified in advance by letter drop of the start date and duration and by advance warning street signs as each closure is implemented.
