Westmorland and Furness - Multiple Temporary Road Closures due to Utility Works
What is happening?
WESTMORLAND AND FURNESS COUNCIL (MILBROW, KIRKBY LONSDALE, NEW INN YARD, KENDAL, U5602 LEVENS AND MILTON ROAD, MILTON) (TEMPORARY TRAFFIC REGULATION) ORDER 2026
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that to enable utility works to be carried out (“the Works”), Westmorland and Furness Council has made an Order the effect of which is to prohibit any vehicle from proceeding along the following sections of road:-
(i) Mill Brow, Kirkby Lonsdale, from its junction with Market Street (B6254), extending in a north easterly direction to its junction with Horse Market (U5406)
Alternative Route for East bound Vehicles: via Main Street (B6254), Lunefield Drive, Ruskin Drive, Back Lane and Horse Market.
Alternative Route for West bound Vehicles: via Horse Market, Back Lane, Ruskin Drive, Lunefield Drive, Main Street (B6254), New Road (B6446), Mitchelgate and Market Street (B6254).
Duration: From 1st June 2026 for approx. 2 days

(ii) U965 New Inn Yard, Kendal, from its junction with Highgate extending in a westerly direction for a distance of approx. 40 metres
There is no suitable alternative route for vehicles.
Duration: From 1st June 2026 for approx. 2 days

(iii) U5620, Levens, from its junction with the A5074, extending in a north westerly direction for a distance of approx. 520 metres.
Alternative Route: via the unrestricted section of the U5602, U561 and the unrestricted section of the A5074.
Duration: From 2nd June 2026 for approx. 3 days

(iv) Milton Lane, Milton, from a point approx. 85 metres south east of its junction with B6385, extending in a south easterly then south westerly direction for a distance of approx. 715 metres.
Alternative Route: via the unrestricted section of Milton Lane (U5357) and the B6385.
Duration: From 4th June 2026 for approx. 2 days

The Order will come into operation on 1st June 2026 and may continue in force for a maximum duration of eighteen months. However, please note that it is anticipated that the restrictions will only be required as detailed above, and only as and when the appropriate traffic signs are displayed.
