(SHELFIELD LANE, DELVES LANE, BACK LANE, SOUTHFIELD, PENDLE BOROUGH)
(TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF THROUGH TRAFFIC) ORDER 2026
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Lancashire County Council intend to make an Order under Section 14(1) (a) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, the effect of which will be to temporarily prohibit traffic on the roads set out in this notice.
1. No person shall cause any motor vehicle to proceed over those lengths of
i. Shelfield Lane, Southfield from its junction with Back Lane for approximately 466 metres in a north westerly direction.
ii. Delves Lane, Southfield from its junction with Shefield Lane to its junction with Southfield Lane
iii. Back Lane, Southfield from its junction with Shelfield Lane for approximately 1050 metres in a south direction.
2. Nothing in this order shall apply to persons engaged in the carrying out of the works.
3. The prohibition will be operative from 0800 hours on Tuesday 9th June 2026 until 1600 hours on Friday 19th June 2026 or until completion of the works within this period. The prohibitions will only be operative when indicated on site by the presence of the appropriate traffic signs in accordance with The Traffic Signs Regulations and General Directions 2016. Works are weather dependent and may be carried out on any of the dates specified.
4. Vehicular access for residents will be maintained whenever and wherever possible. Emergency services access will be maintained whenever and wherever possible. Pedestrian access to properties will always be maintained.
5. An alternative route for vehicular traffic affected by the closure is via:
i. Shelfield Lane, Southfield
Burnley Road – Church Street – Skipton Road – Cotton Tree Lane – Keighley Road – Newton Street – Craddock Street – Walton Street – Church Street – Albert Road – Bridge Street – Knotts Lane – Southfield Lane -Back Lane.
ii. Delves Lane, Southfield
Southfield Lane – Back Lane – Shelfield Lane
iii. Back Lane, Southfield
Halifax Road, Briercliffe – Nelson Road – Halifax Road, Nelson, Hibson Road – Netherfield Road – Barkerhouse Road – Delves Lane
The temporary prohibition is necessary to allow Telecoms civils works to be carried out.
