What is happening?

THE CITY OF SUNDERLAND (NO WAITING AND LOADING RESTRICTIONS AND LOADING FOR GOODS VEHICLES ONLY) (WEST STREET SUNDERLAND) TRAFFIC REGULATION ORDER 20--

NOTICE is given that Sunderland City Council propose to make an Order under Sections 1, 2, 4, 32 and 33 and Part IV of Schedule 9 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, by virtue of the Traffic Management Act 2004 and all other enabling powers and after consultation with the Chief Officer of Police in accordance with Part III of Schedule 9 of the Act. The effect of the proposed Order will (i) Prohibit waiting at any time along the east side of West Street from a point 18.6 metres north of the extended southern property boundary of Unit 6 West Street, in a northerly direction (to incorporate the full length of the northern West Street Service Area), to the extended northern highway boundary of High Street West. (ii) Prohibit waiting between Mon-Sat 8am-6pm (inclusive) along the east side of West Street from a point 2.1 metres north of the extended southern property boundary of Unit 6 West Street, in a southerly direction (to incorporate the southern service area of West Street in its entirety on both sides) to the extended southern highway boundary of High Street West. (iii) Prohibit loading and unloading at any time along the road as described in (i) above. (iv) Introduce a loading bay operating on all days and all hours for Goods Vehicles only along the east side of West Street, from a point 2.1 metres north of the extended southern property boundary of Unit 6 West Street for a distance of 16.5 metres in a northerly direction. (v) Revoke the Orders to the extent set out in the Schedule. Documents giving more detailed particulars of the Order may be inspected during normal opening hours at City Hall, Plater Way, Sunderland SR1 3AA, until six weeks have elapsed from the date on which the Order is made or as the case may be, the Council decides not to proceed to make the Order. Objections to the Order must be made in writing to E. Waugh, Assistant Director of Law and Governance, City Hall, Plater Way, Sunderland SR1 3AA or via email at: statutoryorders

on or before the 24th June 2026 and any objection must state the grounds on which it is made. Please quote reference: JA/83312 in all correspondence. Schedule In Schedule Part A Schedule 1.41 ‘No Waiting Monday to Saturday 8am-6pm’ of The City of Sunderland (St Mary’s Way Area) Traffic Order 2015 the Item relating to ‘Middle Street (directly south of properties numbered 278 and 274 West Wear Street)’ and the Item relating to ‘West Street Sunderland’ are hereby revoked in their entirety. Schedule Part B Schedule X57: Prohibited Access All Days and All Hours Prohibited Access Except for Loading and Access to Off-Street Premises of The City of Sunderland (St Mary’s Way Area) Traffic Order 2015 is hereby revoked in its entirety.
