What is happening?

MANCHESTER CITY COUNCIL
TEMPORARY ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ORDER ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984 SECTION 14 (AS AMENDED)

Notice is hereby given that the City Council has made the following Temporary Road Traffic Order(s):

ORDER NO. MCC 149510648 : The City of Manchester (Milk Street, Deansgate Ward)(Temporary Prohibition of Vehicular Traffic) Order 2026 under s14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984. The effect of the Order is to prohibit vehicular traffic on Milk Street for its full length. The alternative routes for traffic will be: York Street, Fountain Street, Marble Street & Marble Street, Spring Gardens, York Street. The City Council is satisfied that this prohibition is necessary in order to facilitate a foul sewer installation. It is expected that the works will be in progress from 1st June 2026 to 26th June 2026. The order shall come into operation on 1st June 2026 and may remain in force for a maximum period of eighteen months. If all necessary works are completed within a shorter period, the Order shall cease to have effect at the end of that shorter period.

ORDER NO. MCC 149797007 : The City of Manchester (Albion Street, Deansgate Ward) (Temporary Prohibition of Vehicular Traffic) Order 2026 under s14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984. The effect of the Order is to prohibit vehicular traffic on Albion Street at the junction of Bridgewater Street. The alternative routes for traffic will be: Albion Street, Lower Mosley Street, Windmill Street, Mount Street, Peter Street, Deansgate. The City Council is satisfied that this prohibition is necessary in order to facilitate a telecoms cable fault repair. It is expected that the works will be in progress between 21:00hrs on 1st June 2026 and 06:00hrs on 2nd June 2026. The order shall come into operation on 1st June 2026 and may remain in force for a maximum period of eighteen months. If all necessary works are completed within a shorter period, the Order shall cease to have effect at the end of that shorter period.
