What is happening?

THE CITY OF EDINBURGH COUNCIL

(EYRE PLACE AREA) (TEMPORARY ROAD RESTRICTION
AND TRAFFIC REGULATION) ORDER 2026 – TEMP/26/82

The Council has made an Order under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, the effect of which will be that for a temporary period, to facilitate the installation of a new sewer connection, no person shall: (a) drive or cause or permit any vehicle to be driven on any part of: Phase 1 Canon st from Eyre Pl north-westwards to 60m south-east of the south-east kerbline of Canon La; Phase 2 Eyre Pl (1) from the north-east kerbline of Eyre Cres (west leg), north-eastwards to the south-west kerbline of Eyre Cres (east leg); and (2) at Canonmills and Rodney St; & (b) cause or permit any vehicle to wait or load onto or unload from any vehicle at any time on: (i) Canon st (south-west side) from Eyre Pl, north-westwards to 5m north-west of the extended building boundary between No. 31 Eyre Pl and No. 4 Canon St; (ii) Eyre Cres (East leg) (north-east side) from the north-west kerbline of Eyre Pl north-westwards for 11m; and (iii) Eyre Pl (1) (both sides) from the north-east kerbline of Eyre Cres (west leg), northeastwards to the south-west kerbline of Eyre Cres (east leg); and (2) (north-west side) from the north-east kerbline of Eyre Cres (east leg), north-eastwards to Canon St. Existing parking restrictions will be suspended on the affected sections of roads described. The one-way restrictions on Canon st (south to north direction) and Eyre Pl (east to west direction), will be suspended to facilitate local and business access and egress. The alternative route for through vehicular traffic in relation to the road closures will be by way of: Phase 1 Canon st – Eyre Pl, Brandon St, Brandon Ter; and Phase 2 Eyre Pl (1) (both sides between the East & West Legs of Eyre Cres) – Eyre Pl, Eyre Cres and Eyre Pl; & (2) (at Canonmills/Rodney Street) – Canonmills, Huntly St, Brandon Ter, Brandon St and Eyre Pl. The road closures for: Phase 1 shall not be enacted at the same time as Phase 2. The Order shall have effect from 01/06/26 to 21/06/26.
